I actually meet Björkman last Tuesday in my hometown Eksjö, he was there to promote his self-biography book that has just been released for only one month ago. I didn´t managed to ask him about the upcoming MF though.

I do wonder which artists that will be as we swedes call "Dragplåster" which simply means which artists that will be most hyped and attracted to make people get interest, Alcazar and Wiktoria could be two such acts, I don´t Think Wiktoria will compete for a third time in the row though

Who really cares about Alcazar though? It's very MF-bubble crowd...

Wiktoria seems not to be rumored, I think out of the "rumored names", she (if she'd take part) would be a certain candidate for victory this time around...

But really Jonas Gardell? ....

Jonas Gardell is an incredibly beloved person in Sweden. He is married to Mark Levengood who everybody loves and Jonas wrote Torka Aldrig Tårar which is a true story about HIV hitting Sweden in the 70's through his eyes and today it's considered a classic. He's got his own comedy show and he gets constant praise from the LGBTQ community.

So I was at a gay club in December last year and I met him there, which I thought was kind of fun. I praised him for his work and we chatted for a while. After a couple of minutes it was obvious he was flirting with me, but since I respected him I told him I gave him the benefit of the doubt, telling him I must be mistaking myself that he actually was flirting with me. He looked pissed off and started talking about how many offers I get from guys like me, how rude I was, what a piece of trash I actually am etc. Since then he has been nothing but a pile of dirt to me.

My opinion of this years MF line up:

Sure, there are some promising names in the bunch, but overall it is just nobodys, boring people with no chance and crazy manic acts (Edward Blom, Jonas Gardell, Rolandz) that at least two of them will go to the final. First feeling I get that is that it will come to a final duel between Benjamin and Mariette, at least it is what it looks like on paper. Liamoo who won Idol last year is a surprising name, but feels very fresh in this line-up, might be up to something good. Margaret, well I did love her "Cool Me Down" but is it really possible to qualify in MF if you are from Poland? Also, can they really write something as good as "CMD"? Maybe, we'll have to see.

Even before this line-up reveal I have felt on the bottom of excitement when it comes to Melodifestivalen. Almost to the part that I wished we did as Finland does, choose one of these singers and let them sing three songs, so we can get it over with and go all in for Lisbon. But oh well...with weaker names, maybe the songs is better.

After last year, which featured many known names with disappointing entries, the fact there are more new faces than usual may be a good thing actually. I can't tell whether it's the same for the composers or not though, because more importantly, it is the lack of diversity sonically-speaking that hinders Melfest imo.

Not on a persona level as far as I know, but she has a contract with a Swedish production team and record label and was having a minor "hit" with "Cool Me Down" the other year which got promoted in Sweden.

The list of participants, as expected by the rumors, is pretty dreadful... it's like they're aiming for a joke MF this year with acts like Edward Blom, Kamferdrops, Jonas Gardell, Kikki Danielsson, Méndez, Rolandz and Samir & Viktor and as always with SVT they make fun of Swedish language with accepting only joke entries or hopeless cases in Swedish... apparently Björkman & Co didn't learn anything from last two victories in ESC...

Ida Redig, Jessica Andersson, Mariette, Kalle Moraeus and Margaret are the only acts that could be ok...

Surely there are lots of pretty unknown names in the bunch so I'll rest my case until I hear them all, but I don't have high hopes for this year's selection...

Forever? I doubt that. Something definitely happened with Alcazar. They were supposed to announce some news today and nothing happened. So their video was indeed about Melodifestivalen. We will probably never find out what exactly happened. They seemed really excited to be in it and let's mention once again the perfect timing with the 20-year anniversary. If it's something that can be discussed, they probably will talk about it. Otherwise, they will try to cover it with something else. Like a special concert or something. Last year at the after party Andreas told me they were thinking of doing a concert in New Year's but he was also kinda drunk so I don't know Plus, the music was so loud I could barely hear him.

Anyway, I'm really bummed they're out. It looks like everything is set up for Mariette (yay!). She sounds really confident about this song (even though I don't know if it will top AMY for me). As everyone mentioned it (in other groups and forums), so far it's between Benjamin and Mariette. We'll see... Overall it's a very meh line-up.

EDIT: As for Christer, he quits in 2021 and today he said during an interview that he trains a woman for his position.
