Maybe it's because of the central fact that many people long for in art: you want to get presented something originally created by the artist because you feel that this is sort of an invitation to his/her world, which creates intimacy or a sort of feeling you are close to him/her. Which is always a nice experience - getting in touch with another human being (or in the case of the artist - have the impression to get in touch with him). So the lesser things there are in the production around him or her (lightning, show, technique...) the more "naked", the more "exposed to our eyes and ears", the artist presents him/herself. Whereas some might get the feeling of being distant to the artist because of the many things that come in between him (his song/his presence as a person on stage) and us - the audience. We might have the "disguised" / "masked" impression instead of the one I described before. So we don't really feel invited to his world, but rather left outside. One can still enjoy this construction around the artist for its professionally, for its aesthetic appeal or for many other reasons as they may in fact - as you pointed out - demand a great amount of skills and devotion. But if this construction covers the artist in a way that you can change him/her for another and you wouldn't notice this change, then people might loose the interest - which is unfair to the hard working artist, but understandable because the audience has lost the connection to him/her as a person.
But this is of course only one way to judge the quality of art, one can go for the technical skills, for the authenticity, for the mere aesthetic pleasure - neither of them seems to me more or less valid, than the others.

Thanks, Sammy. If I understood you right, one way to judge quality is to look for the art or expression of feelings of an act. I agree completely with this. The expression consists of course of the audio, the sound pieces of the song, but in Eurovision, there's also the visual performance and even the imaginary private impression you get from the lyrics. The personal relation to the artist aspect you're talking about, it must be a typical esc fan feature, right? This is another level of some kind of private imaginary value. The truer open and honest personality, the better or whatever your preferences lie. It could be a funny or sexy personality for example. Here I'm not so sure I agree. At least not when it comes to Eurovision, possibly because I'm probably not being a completely devoted esc fan. But then again, who is?

I'd say POP is the art of combining the well known into new sensations. It is not an easy or a self-evident task. It takes many types of skills and experiences to do good POP. You can say this is more of a craftsmanship rather than art. Sure, but sometimes it can get magical and then per definition as an expression of feelings, it is true art.

For those who refuse to see values in other music genres other than according to their own preferences, I'd say - Yass for complete dominance of fast food POP music in Eurovision!!

Oh I absolutely agree with you. I'd never say plastic pop is no art, nor that songwriters produce a better / more true or more valuable form of art. ;)
To the contrary - I find a position that labels one form of honest artistic expression in that way rather arrogant when it is done as a seemingly "objective" statement. Of course everyone rates different forms differently (that's also the reason we are here for ), but that is a result of our subjective taste not of an objective reality.

As for your last sentence - this is the only thing, I'd object.

This is probably my most listened track so far. It's so easy on the ears, and his whispery voice works so well with the song. It's sensual without being sleazy.

I've only heard 3 of the esc songs so far and I want to listen to the rest without knowing which countries they are, or the odds. There is not a list of all the songs on spotify yet, is there? I saw there were lists with about 35 songs, but that doesn't seem right?

The official Eurovision site eurovision.tv has a YouTube playlist
https://www.youtube.com/user/Eurovision

They really should have a Spotify list as well.

The moment I was turned by Benjamin Ingrosso - he really is such a nice funny guy

The nice summary comments from Schlagerprofilerna may have contributed as well

Conclusion: Both Benjamin and his song are growers

Pretty similar development as another Swede-Italian - Oscar Zia, who also appears to be a genuinely nice guy.
The skills of the Italians xlove

No idea what people like about it, I cannot listen to the song till the end. I have given 1 point and it still feels like that for me.

I actually don't understand why people hate it that much, there are many other generic songs, that are worse than this, but they receive recognition and glorification ( Ukraine, Poland, Czech Republic, I like them also, but just sayin')/ I like 80's vibes, and this is enjoyable for me to listen, i don't see anything bad. It is maybe not for the win, but it is not ertainly the worst, like people tend to say!

Well i think that Chech Republic, Norway and some others is worse than this one!

Yeah, Norway especially, altough I am great fan of Rybak, since his victory in 2009, but this song is his worst, so bad and childish :( I don't understand glorification of Czech Republic;s entry, it is in almost everyone's top 5, lyrics are shallow and rude, almost rip-off Talk Dirty to me, and those same hate Dance you off, calling it rubish, etc. :)

Totally agree with you, I would understand if someone likes Estonia, Greece, and hates Sweden, but this situation, I can't understand ;) It really does look like they are hating without real reason, I don't know:lol:

Staging is genius... for some reason I've listened to this song for half an hour now... Wouldn't surprise me if this is top 5 in Lisbon. My worries about Sweden is the backing vocal who's pre recorded during Melfest so I'm excited how that will sound in Lisbon

Hahah, I listen it just like you, I just love it :) I am concerned about pre recorded vocals, too, and, I know it is Sweden, like many people would say, but I am afraid if it would pass through semi-final, because I read in different places that people just hate it so, soooo much :(

If an entry has many haters maybe it has many fans too!
I think that qualification is secure for Sweden!

LOL well you are right but sometimes the more fans you get the more haters you have! Like Justin Bieber! He is very succesful but way to many people hating him because of his success! Maybe the same happens with Sweden!
