Oh no, I just wanted to make clear that people dont have a wrong impression of me. I hope I didnt offend anyone, if yes I feel very sorry of course.

Nobody care's if you're homo or not, period. Weird that you'd even think that it mattered to someone ESPECIALLY here. Does it matter to you if someone has the "wrong impression" of you then you might think of why you feel like that.

Benjamin the obvious jury winner? At Eurovision? I don't think so.

Isn't there a difference between winner and favourite? Wouldn't call him obvious, but he should be very high with juries. Who are your favourites to win the jury vote?

I have to admit the last time i was this pleased with our entry was Måns 2015, Sanna 2014 and Loreen 2012, it is a good sign. :)

Benjamin is very talented, both write and producing his own music (He really have some good songs), i think he deserves this success!

Also seems to be very down to earth and not afraid to show of his personality, as you can see in this clip below.

For you that don´t now, there is a tv-show here in Sweden where you can follow Benjamins family which is quite famous (Wahlgren-Ingrosso), to be honest i have not been a fan of this tv-show but as i said they are not afraid to show of their personalities, and is nice to see that they can be themselfs in front of the camera.

Sometimes It is quite fun actually: (Note it is on Swedish, but i think you understand what i mean, if you can watch it outside Sweden ofc. :) )

Hopefully we get this year an Eurovisionwinner who is relevant outside the ESC-Kosmos and not only for that One Night, like Jamala and Salvador (although they were in my Top5) from whom we havent heard anything 2 Days later. Benjamin would be perfect because he has a great, International Career ahead of him and could need that Victory for a Career-Springboard. Also his Song has Potential for a Huge Commercial-Success.

Salvador was selling and doing well on spotify and charts after Eurovision. What else would you want from him? He couldn't go away from Portugal because of his disease and a few months after the contest he was hospitalised until he got the transplant. It's not like he was able to do promo around Europe for his work.

nope nope nope

we should not give a fuck about their chart success outside of eurovision. not that i don't want people to have nice careers, but if that becomes an expectation artists have of eurovision it will ruin our variety of music by... well, by making it become melfest 2018.

I know about his Disease, but I doubt we will hear much about him in the Future. It was a One-Night-Event, his Victory. In Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Uk her flopped with his Song chartwise. And this year People want Israel to win as if anyone would care about her 2 days Later etc... Thats why I see Benjamin as a worthy Winner. He could be sustainable be successful.

I don't get what you mean. Are you saying the winner of Eurovision shouldn't be the most popular song? You do understand what a Spotify chart is, right? "variety of music" what does it mean? I can't imagine anyone is watching Eurovision and expect to see Sandrine Piau (even though we'll actually have the pleasure to see Elina this year). Don't get me wrong, I truly love Sandrine, but really - We are here for the pop music! And yes, we want it to be as current as possible. Why wouldn't we? There are plenty of other scenes for other types of music if you so prefer. If you don't like pop, I honestly don't understand what you're doing here.

speak for your own damn self because i disagree wholeheartedly

eurovision has always been free from the shackles of current trends (even if it is by being hilariously dated most of the time) and i want it to stay that way. melfest 2018 was a tropical house nightmare with a bunch of identical songs and eurovision absolutely cannot go down that route.

au contraire. i love eurovision and will obnoxiously defend its spirit (and by extension the spirit of its NFs) to the end of my days. i want good melfest back. i want melfest that isn't just a spotify top 28 playlist back. i don't want people to go to eurovision only to go up the charts. i love the idea of a contest that puts europe upside down and inside out for a week and then everyone carries on with their lives. i don't want it to be another part of the stale award circuit.

Finally someone with good point when it comes to Eurovision, it has always been contest for the pop music! I don't understand why people now are acting like jazz, classical music and other are mainstream, like they don't listen pop on daily basis. :) Too many comlaints for nothing, without real reason. But I also think that all music genres are ok, it is based on personal taste and opinion, and all the hate for some genre are unnecesary ;)

I agree wholeheartedly with Alaska49 here. Eurovision is special and unique, and what does it matter if the winner sets the charts on fire or not? You can still have a good, well respected and successful career in music without ever touching the top 40. "1944" and "Amar Pelos Dois" are my two favourite Eurovision winners of all time, and I don't think Jamala or Salvador need to be international chart topping artists to solidify what they achieved at the contest, which was reaching the hearts of Europeans on Eurovision night. The moment the contest starts pandering fully to the mundane is the moment I jump off ship. I'm not just here for pop. I'm here for everything.

I think he refers to that Sweden got undeservedly high placments in the recent years though the quality of the songs themselves doesn't reflect this. It's not really about the genre Sweden represents.
Yeah... I want the winners to be up to date too. Eurovision really needs more songs which are contemporary AND good for their own good. Not just in Eurovision, but in the entire music scene. Diversity is the thing! The more we all are experimenting, then its more likely that Eurovision will produce its next smash hit that's actually great. Sweden recently do no flavor for that. The songs have been too safe, too calculated, too generic and way to focused on staging than to bothering about the songs. Yeah they were hits on the charts, but they need to offer something fresh and has to standout to have some lasting impact in the long run. SVT needs to rethink how they select their songs for melfest before the empire may fall apart like in the mid-2000s.

OK, really don't feel up for another pointless argument about the tiresome forum hate on Sweden. I have no idea what you mean with a "good melfest back". So to be constructive, why don't you exemplify some aspects you like Christer to change to next year? The most common argument right now is to remove the heart voting. The app is probably here to stay.
