And you defend Russia no matter what they do and keep attacking me personally. That doesn't add any credibility to your posts. You are just one of Sergey's brainless fanboys.

If only the jury is disqualified, nothing about the way the juries vote will change. If Russia gets a new jury for the grand final, they will vote the same way. The only difference will be that they won't broadcast it on Periscope again. Nothing will change this way. Disqualifying juries has already been done in the past and it hasn't changed anything.
If we want a better system, there needs to be decisive action.

Imagine this video would have been from Sweden - I can only guess what his reaction would look like now

Anybody knows about a reaction of the EBU? It was said to be this afternoon. But I doubt they'll do anything serious right before the semifinal.

They will ask for more bribes to keep up their support for Russia.

of course they will not disqualify russia. i guess at least the jury member who is responsible for this video will be kicked out, maybe they will cancel the whole russian jury voting.
time to change the regulations for the juries.

Ovidiu couldn't participate because TVR has lost its EBU's membership, so he became stateless, and one cannot take part if one doesn't represent a country.

In Russia's case, I highly doubt this rule violation is considered serious enough to kick the whole delegation out. The 5 jurors need to go, but the Russian broadcaster, as well as the rest of the Russian team, have been complying with the rules as far as we know.

One shouldn't aim at the wrong target: disqualifying an act for that matter is not a goal in itself, the EBU must compel juries to respect the rules by other means, they should take the necessary measures to achieve that and prevent misbehaviors instead of resorting to the mean and nasty temporary disqualification of a country. Russians have been caught, but others may act the same way... so, this shows that the procedure should be deeply reformed to re-establish impartiality and professionalism.

Those people haven't been invited to a Sausage Fair, they have a job to do and they're expected to take it seriously. It's up to the EBU to enforce its own rules.

I'm not even sure if you're serious.

I think that the penalty is correct. Anastasiya Stotskaya did the mistake and she had to be taken out. The Russian TV station will deal with her on their own probably (which is the worse situation for her). She pretty much destroyed her career tbh.

Well, as expected, this is not too harsh. I would have wished a bit more though....
Like some fine to pay or something in that category. I think jury members would take their work more seriously, if a wrongdoing would have more severe consequences for them.

I thought it would be enough to decline the percentages of the jury votes, but from now on it seems like the best thing to do is to go back to %100 televoting. Heck, the televoters are smarter

Eh, I’m actually okay with this course of action. Clearly the other jury members shouldn’t be punished if they haven’t actually broken any EBU rules, and any disadvantages superimposed on Sergey and the Russian entry in general would be ridiculous. A harsher punishment for the participants involved would just be hot-headed.

That being said, I do however support a return to 100% televoting, as multiple cases – by far not only this one – have shown us that the juries simply aren’t as objective and fair as they should be.

So the EBU basically did nothing and the juries will keep working unprofessionally like in the video. There probably won't be more videos but that's all that will change.

That's the expected outcome.

If Russia wins this year, we should just return to the 100% televote system. There wouldn't be a point in having juries anymore. If Eurovision is just a camp contest, let the public decide instead of hiring unprofessional juries to pretend it's a legitimate song contest.

Another weak "punishment" from the EBU. I'm sorry but there were four other people in that room who clearly knew that Stotskaya was filming them all, they should have told her to put her phone away. Similarly RTR should have had better judgement than to pick someone like Stotskaya who clearly broke the rules. Eliminating Stotskaya doesn't solve the problem, this is just like the EBU's "response" to the allegations of Azeri vote-buying a few years ago. What's the point in having rules if you're not going to enforce them?

Actually, this is the better scenario for the EBU because, in my mind, RTR will punish Stotskaya way more in the future. I think that this woman, pretty much, ended her career. The Russian people are really mad at her as well. "Moscow doesn't believe in tears" after all.

Pathetic decision by the EBU. Shows they have very little spine when it regards to the big countries.
