Sort of began to like the melody of this song, especially the part after "I won't bake" ("When it comes to emotions from the deepest of oceans" etc.) sounds really pretty. If only Yulia's accent wasn't as thick... and if she could actually hit the notes... and if the staging wasn't as ridiculous...

On the news they will broadcast the video of fake results from yesterday's jury rehearsal when russia qualified and declare Yulia as a girl who did it against all odds and hate, invite for a ceremony to Kremlin where she will get medal for being brave

You sure about that? I think the Kremlin would rather see her not qualifying tbh. Fits the narrative of the big bad west that has been taken over by unholy gays xheat

Making it through tonight would be seen as a feat by the Russian government to be honest...

Then they should've let Yulia sing it. Or...well..should've let babushkas bake her in the oven instead of cookies. (you can't say anyone would forget a performance like that - it would give you THIS kind of vibes). That's what I'd call a joke entry worth of 2nd place.

Yulia in the oven? Why am I thinking of Hänsel and Gretel now?

And then the pro-Russian forum members will post here that the Russian media tell the truth and that the Western media are lying about it because it's all a big conspiracy against innocent Mother Russia.

I really hope this fails to qualify. If this manages to qualify just because of the Russian diaspora, this would be so shameful and unjustified that the voting rules would have to be changed to limit the influence of the diaspora in the future.

Second that! I'm afraid this will qualify, but for all the wrong reasons, and that would make me really question (if I haven't done it enough already) the juries competence and right to exist in this contest. There is no way a musical "expert" would let this through, I mean not only is the song a dated and bland boring ballad without character, it's also performed so badly. I know the juries tend to like these type of generic ballads, and they voted for similar stuff in the past, but at least then they could justify it with that the performances were well made or something (although I think in a song contest you need to look primarily at the songs, but that's another discussion), but in this case? There isn't even that argument left to let this bad entry through.

I would feel so sorry for whatever more worthy entrant that would get robbed on their qualification if this goes through.

You always get people robbed of qualification every year, they tinker with the rules every year but it doesn't make much difference. It's better not to take placings too seriously.

Very true, but in this case it would be so obviously unfair, because in other cases you can at least argue that something was right, here based on all criteria it just shouldn't qualify.

In terms of song quality this probably sits somewhere between 8th and 12th tonight, so very possible it will get through and not solely because of the diaspora vote.

As for that point, diaspora voting has damaged Eurovision for decades now and there is nothing that can be done about it unless you either abolish televoting or weight voting to give the big countries more voting power than the small ones (though even this wouldn't always work - Ukraine voting for Russia, France/Germany voting for Turkey... )
