TVR in financial trouble: Will Romania have to sit out from #eurovision next year?
NOOOOOOOOOO, ANYTIME THEY WANT, BUT NOT THIS YEAR, NOT WHEN AUSTRIA'S THE HOST!:(

To the Romanian members: Do you think it's very likely that the shut-down will actually happen? And if so, would they still find a way to participate in ESC?
There is a chance. Last year they were that close to shut everything down, but we've always had bad economy, and it didn't stop us from participating. I don't see major changes this year.

How popular is ESC in Romania? With their record I will remain open minded that they will be in Vienna.
We ALWAYS complain here how we never win. Each year is the same discussion and Romanian people don't see that we aren't, actually, as bad as we think.
It is pretty popular, but I don't think that people would be that sad if this year we won't take part of it. People know about it,talk about it, and after the show you always see the topic on TV, on the main channels (talk shows and such).

Romania is the ultimate country that has never failed to qualify! I love Romania in Eurovision, I can't imagine watching a Eurovision without seeing what Romania sends ..

I remember the autumn 2012. Then, also everyone were saying that Romania is in very serious financial problems and country's presence in Malmö is very threatened. And what was next? They participated. So I doubt that Romania won't take part in 2015.
But if really :ro: will withdraw - It will be big loss for ESC. They are sending nice songs, and TVR have a good attitude to contest.

Oh c'mon, they're withdrawing for the last three years! They weren't secure for the 2013 edition, for the 2014 edition and now they're not secure for the 2015 edition! Besides, EBU will find a way how to convince Romania to stay, it's the 60th edition!

I think that all these voting blocks and all actual "Old Europe" countries's mafia deserve a boycott from us and to stay home at least one year. But no one in TVR don't assume this risk... yet.

"Old Europe countries mafia"? May I remind you who gives the 12 points to Moldova year after year (when it's possible)?

Should I remind you how your "professional jury" who should make a professional judgement for the songs don't loose any ocasion to put Romania last? This year was an exception, but is obvious that there are amateur jurors... or to name them mafia? And Romania and Moldova didn't change 12 always. Check the statistics before to open this discussion. At least in Romania the people (televoting) still matter!

Well, I seriously doubt that especifically Spain and the Spanish jury want to put Romania last, basically because we've been giving you lots of points since the televoting was established. In this particular case, the jury does help "correcting" the diaspora voting: Spain has a large community of Romanians who usually vote for their home country regardless of the song (nothing to say to that, I think that all of us would vote for our own country if we were abroad), while the jury doesn't have anything to do with diaspora and vote according to their criteria (which can be, of course, discussed). Anyway, this year, the Spanish jury put Romania 8th and you got 8 points from us. Last year you didn't got any, but I guess that had something to do with your song, and two years ago we gave you 10 points, in 2011 8 points again, 10 in 2010 and so on. Casually, the countries which got higher marks from Spain went on to win or to get a decent placing, so I can't really get that point of the "Old Europe mafia" in this case.

The jury is not or should not be there to correct anything, just to do a professional judgement for the SONGS, STAGE ACTS AND PERFORMANCES. And I really doubt that Romania was for last place in 2012 or 2013 like it was in Spanish jury. To be last I guess that you should be between the worst at song composition, voice and stage performance and this for sure wasn't the case of Romania. How Spanish jury think that only the Romanians from Spain vote for Romania? And even if only the Romanians from Spain vote for Romania why should the jury eliminate the televoting winner from top 10? Is that more fare for you? Then why to have a televoting? The Romanians from Spain are now part of Spain society and pay taxes there... why should they be totally "eliminated"? This year you have a juror who put Romania first, but there was two idiots who put Paula last... if you can imagine!!! Now how professional judgement is there if one profesional person put it first and other two "professionals" put it last? What I wanna say is that Turkey may have right. Can be awfull to see always 12 from Spain to Romania but it is also awfull or even more awfull to see the winner of televoting (of people) not recieving 5 or 6 points. Romania wasn't the best, but either the worst but won the televoting and recieved zero because a "professional jury" made their real job there. I think that ranking the song from 1 to 26 is unfair and can allow some games who don't make the Eurovision more fair than before.

Well, I understand what you mean, but I feel it's quite utopic to think that televote is voting completely based in the quality of the songs. And with correcting I meant "contrasting", of course the vote of the Romanians in Spain is there, and of course they can vote for the country they want and that the Spanish can vote for Romanía as well, but still, it's quite obvious that Romanians in Spain tend to vote for Romania as much as Spaniards in Germany or the UK tend to do so for Spain. With this I'm not saying that jury vote is completely professional neither, in fact, I don't like the idea that the votes of 5 people count as much as the votes of a whole nation, but, for now, I think it's not a bad option neither. At least, I'd rather make some other changes first to find fairness in this contest...

LOL get over it.

First of all, there wasn't any ranking in 2012 and the one in 2013 wasn't public like this year ;)

In 2012, Mandinga got 10 points from us (just after one of the most popular winners ever). That means our jury gave them some points, otherwise Romania would most probably get 7 or 8 points.

About 2013, I actually think Romania was embarrassing and the worst of the night, so a last place for Cezar would be completely fair. Anyway we only know Romania was quite low, we don't know if they got the last place in the Spanish jury. "It's my life" did really poor in most European juries, not only ours.

In 2014, you're wrong about the results. Spanish jury put Paula & Ovi 7-13-9-1-16 (average 8th place). Meanwhile:
Albania: 16th
Armenia: 17th

Austria: 5th
Azerbaijan: 4th

Belarus: 10th
Belgium: 13th
Denmark: 14th
Estonia: 11th

FYR Macedonia: 3rd
Finland: 16th
France: 22nd

Georgia: -
Germany: 16th
Greece: 18th
Hungary: 17th
Iceland: 14th
Ireland: 18th

Israel: 6th
Italy: 13th
Latvia: 17th
Lithuania: 25th

Malta: 3rd
Moldova: 1st
(actually 1st place from every juror... is that fair?)
Montenegro: 22nd
Norway: 10th
Poland: 22nd
Portugal: 22nd
Russia: 22nd
San Marino: 25th
Slovenia: 23rd

Spain: 8th
Sweden: 16th
Switzerland: 15th
The Netherlands: 16th
Ukraine: 13th
United Kingdom: 22nd

Blue countries -> higher average rank for Romania
Red countries -> lower average rank for Romania

I think this says everything... ONLY SIX JURIES put Romania higher than the Spanish one, while a huge majority ranked it below 15th place. So there's absolutely no way to complain about this since Spanish jury is clearly not killing Romanian chances every single year.
