I am absolutely thrilled to share my thoughts on JOSH’s mesmerizing entry, “Tristeza”.

This song is nothing short of extraordinary, seamlessly blending heartfelt emotion with a captivating melody that lingers in the mind long after the final note.

The orchestration of “Tristeza” is absolutely sublime. JOSH, along with co-composer João Gaspar, has masterfully crafted a musical arrangement that intertwines traditional Portuguese sounds with contemporary elements, creating a rich and immersive auditory experience. The delicate balance of instruments and the poignant lyrics, penned by JOSH himself, evoke a profound sense of melancholy and beauty that is truly unparalleled.

I’m beyond excited to see JOSH’s performance tonight! xcheer I truly believe his stage presence and vocal delivery will elevate this already incredible song to new heights — and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see Portugal rise even higher in the odds after this!

Oh well...
Disclaimer: we saw this from the venue, not with camera angles but this is Eurovision winning material. JOSH levitates on stage for 3 minutes. So thoughtful. Giving face and drama. People are crying.

I usually do not trust Wiwibloggs at all (i find them tasteless and unlikeable), but I like the idea with Josh floating.

"Tristeza" has been one of my potential winner picks for a while (and the only released one lol), and I hope the performance will be as amazing as the song.

And Josh winning would make this somewhat of a 2017 repeat? An overall louder year many call weaker as well, won by a beautiful portuguese ballad lol

Is anyone watching this? I'm watching on my phone, but I don't have access through my laptop o_O xhelp

Xico Gaiato was great, I hope he qualifies.

Wow, Josh creates a moment. I'm impressed. He was very convincing. The staging is Eurovision-ready, with a few slight changes it will be even more impressive on a bigger stage.

Tumblr, mostly.
We can scratch Josh from our contender list. This was self-indulgent and daft.

Definitely not winning fdc, let ALONE eurovision.

Forgot to post this earlier but anyway...

My thoughts pre semifinals

What an absolutely fantastic selection from Portugal in 2025. :jonny:

I can't decide if this or Latvia are my favorite for the year. They scratch different itches but I'm leaning towards :portugal: Festival da Canção. ;)

A Cantadeira is my favorite off the studio versions. Can't get enough of the traditional music and sounds of boards and bagpipes added in it among other sounds.

Second would be Diana Vilarinho's intense hymn to oppressed women in the Middle East. Its hypnotic and emotional at the same time. hred

While everyone is talking about JOSH I was so impressed by Peculiar in studio. Adamastor lends itself to some epic staging. I think he could very well be the dark horse of this entire thing

Tristeza is a beautiful song for sure with a haunting melody. While it would be a likely top 5 I don't see it as a potential ESC winner yet. Maybe tonight will change that. Hopefully he doesn't over do it. :) Takes a long time to get that final chorus.

Capital da Bulgária rounds out my top 5. The quietest of this group but very warm and beautiful. A lesser :portugal: Saudade, saudade I suppose. xscratch

Plenty of other goods songs from Emmy Curl's neo-folk track to Xico Gaiato's medieval chant style entry. I wouldn't even mind NAPA if they can sell it to the viewers. Lyrics are indeed gorgeous.

The only of the so called favorites that doesn't do it for me is HENKA and even that I can see iher artistic merit and musical quality but I'm just not a fan. Medo is just middle of the road. Don't see Fernando Daniel winning once again

Josh's staging would have sounded fabulous on paper, I bet - but in reality it's not an impressive result unfortunately. The trick isn't tricking. Camera angels and lighting are the main issue here.

Peculiar was cute, and the staging is polished but... I'm sort of not feeling it for some reason. I think it felt a little stiff for me in a weird way. Like it tried to be edgy but is ultimately a little too vanilla.
Maybe it would grow on me.

Capital da Bulgária on the other hand... Head and shoulders above everything. So beautiful.
