im excitd about some of these composers. I didnt know most of them.
hope they will bring some variety...

but it kinda follows the trend Not-very-known-kinda-indie-pop-rock composers they have been inviting last years

This is the newest single from Bárbara Tinoco. Something like this song could be a jury treat. She has the dream to go to Eurovision and that is incredible since she is probably the most popular young singer from her generation in Portugal.

Good news from Portugal 🇵🇹

Maro was one of the top 3 most streamed national artists around the globe on Spotify. The others are electronic music artists.
Ivandro (FC 2023) with the song "Lua" was the most listened of the year. He will take the chance to sing his song in Festival da Canção 2023.

She should have won in 2020 already. Im pretty sure she would have been a safe Qualifier.

No she wouldn't have been because there was no final to qualify for...x

Although choosing Passe-Partout over Medo de Sentir was a more correct decision in 2020, Tinoco's downfall alone made it worth it.

For those who had forgotten it, roughly went like this

angry portuguese mob: UGH BARBARA IS RAPING THE INTEGRITY OF FESTIVAL DA CANCAO WITH HER VILE CHOREOGRAPHY AND STANK REACTION SHOTS, THAT PHILISTINE WHORE!!!

and then she shows up with dancers who are even more prominent in the finale than they were in the semi, proving herself impervious to any and all criticism, which of course caused her to be labelled as an ARROGANT DEMONESS who thought she had it IN THE BAG. (slight hyperbole. slight.) Losing due to "arrogance" when she was merely trying to fine-tune her artistic vision for FdC2020's most competitive song. xheart

2020 was such a Freaky Friday of a year.

Maybe there was a sign for a comeback in 2023. Actually, in these past 3 years, she grow up as an artist. I am sure she will be a contender for Liverpool.

What the hell are you talking about
She was the favourite on social media, on the fandom, the one with the most streams/YT views, and won the public vote on both the SF and the Final

This is one of the strangest fanfictions I've ever read. None of this is even close to reality.

I'm curious what went down then? I distinctly remember Barbara getting accused of arrogance and it tying in with her entry somehow, and that's how i've written it down in my notes at the time.

Was there ever an explanation given to why she lost the jury vote despite being a hot favourite?

Genuinely curious about this.

As am I. I absolutely adore Passe-partout on every level, but admit that it doesn't seem an easy song to stage. Whatever they did in Festival da Cançao 2020 wasn't it, in any case.

(I will admit, though, that Medo de Sentir has grown on me and that those few opening piano notes are absolutely gorgeous.)

Whatever happens, :pt: is my favourite ESC country at present (based on actual entries and selection process.)

Well, we SHOULD discuss FdC 2020 more often. It was an absolutely god-like NF and although Elisa was a Marie Myriam-like placeholder winner, it definitely means something that I still like her despite beating the MANY entries I loved much more.

What was more mind-blowing is that it wasn't even the best NF of the season. PiN2020's supremacy simply cannot be denied.

Where do I begin with the other FdC 2020 contenders? Movimento? Abensonhado? The only entry I'd truly speak ill of is "Mais real que o amor" and that's because it sounds like it's about to turn into All-4-one's "I Swear" but ultimately doesn't.

Even Judas's entry was so bad it was good. If I had time, less inclination for procrastination and fewer genuine commitments, I would seriously consider mashing it up with the Alesia Michelle themesong.

(Not getting into arguments where PiN2020 is concerned, but the Surprise Element certainly helped boost its excellent credentials. Curse you Covid for destroying what appeared to be a genuinely unpredictable contest, which would eventually have been won by :is: (and obviously for a lot of much worse things too)!

YESSS, Cubismo Envisiado was iconically bad xheart Literal spandex disaster:

somehow NOT last?!

When it came to rank Portugal on my pre-show ranking, I picked Judas as one of my Big Four in the NF corner section, mostly because I wanted to gif it all xheart

VES O NÃO?
VES O NÃO?
VES O NÃO?

My other three picks were less outlandish: Passe-Partout, Movimiento and the magnificent Gerbera Amarela do Sul. Even then I felt like I needed to do honorable mentions (an honour i later bestowed upon Lithuania as well.)

She was not the jury favorite in the semi either. They just happened to like other songs more. It happens.

The explanation is they simply didn't like her song as much as others, I guess. They gave the crown to Filipe Sambado that year and to Conan Osiris the previous year, and you definitely can't call the staging/image of either of them as going according to the old FdC tradition either, can you? So that argument goes out of the window

The songs will be revealed on thursday, on a press conference held at 11.30 AM (GMT). They will be available on Youtube afterwards (not sure if they'll also immediately be available on Spotify like last year, or not)

Let's see. I am pretty sure that we will have surprises from the nobodies. It is always like that every year.
Even though, Bárbara Tinoco wrote the song with Tyoz and they are ESC fans. So, probably nothing like Aurea's song is about to come.
