Re: PORTUGAL 2018

Diogo will perform in the death slot (2nd) xcry

Being Diogo that won't be a proble with the televote. I'm only concerned with the jury giving high marks to Janeiro.

Buuuuut... like I said before...

If Diogo is involved... if Universal Music is involved... he's probably going to win right?

I'm sure he will win the televote if the voting only starts on the night. The biggest question mark is the jury voting....
Last year the voting was all week long and Viva la Diva suspiciously won the televote

That violin bridge just like Amar Pelos Dois... come on, why aren't you all seeing that Diogo is just a bad boy version of Salvador Sobral? Is Portugal only going to send these kind of songs for the next 10 years or so? xfacepalm

If the song was sung by a woman it would have never got that much attention, 2018 really seemed to be the year where females will struggle at Eurovision just because they don't have a penis.

His song would have got a lot of huge attention no matter what it was from the get go! He is possible the biggest Portuguese singer at the moment. It has nothing to do with him being a man.

I got that, but any gorgeous male singing it would have done the trick.

Portugal is really going for the whole 'If it ain't broke' mentality aren't they :? I was never a big fan of Salvador so I'm hoping hey don't send Diogo. Claudia would be a better choice.

For sure if the song was sung by a woman every Eurofan would call it a "masterpiece" and call the arrival of a new Mother Mary. This is how Eurovision works.

I don't think it was THAT suspicious. It was just bad taste. Salvador had a huge hype but wasn't enough for the 12pts. In fact, many people "hatted" the choice. They were only happy when they realized he actually had a chance of winning!

Don't forget Viva La Diva also won the televote at the first semi-final!

Re: PORTUGAL 2018

I absolutely love Tamin's "Sobre nós". It's like something Alice Caymmi would sing. I'm really sad to see it's out.

I haven't listened to all the songs yet, but I went straight to the big favourite "Canção do fim". The song is absolutely gorgeous. It really is a stunning composition. I have one very big problem though. To me it's like i'm watching a singer do a cover of a song from someone else. As I feared, i'm not fully connecting with his voice. I don't feel like this song is him. When I listened to Salvador last year you could feel everything coming through from the very depth of his soul, and the glove fitted the hand perfectly. Just a quick browse through of Diogo's other songs and it becomes very clear why i'm thinking this way with him. 10/10 song but I wish someone else was singing it. Pop vocals on the song are so off-putting for me. It's a real shame. I want to cheer for this hard, but i've got a huge wall to climb over. I can make it over the wall i'm sure but with a song like this, there shouldn't be an obstacle there in the first place. It's superb.
