Re: PORTUGAL 2018

It looks like the semi final 2 will definitely have more range than yesterday by just hearing those snippets. Frankly, i wasn't much fond with the slow pace and the sentimentalist choices of televoting. Shame Alvoroço failed to qualify, that's one hell of a western song. It would be a breath of fresh air and a coolest change from our habit of simple ballads. Zero points from televoting...i can't believe this!

I wouldn't go as far as wonderful but it does sound very nice, yes :) Refreshingly light and carefree and well, musical, after all this lazy piano bar madness that took hold of Festival da Canção

Re: PORTUGAL 2018

i think there are 2 promising songs in there judging from the snippets:
Cláudia Pascoal “O jardim” and Diogo Piçarra “Canção do fim”

the rest: not so much ;)

Re: PORTUGAL 2018

The first semifinal was pretty much unbearable. There was nothing interesting there and the only two ones I liked: María Amaral had the best song but a quite bad performance, and Rita was great and I don't understand why she's out. I hope the second semifinal is better if Portugal doesn't want to do an Austria 2015 the year they host.

Finally somebody from Portugal on another site told me what is "patati patata" actually...

"Patati patata is a Brazilian popular expression meaning meaningless chatter (bla, bla, bla)."

that's why that cartoon is called like that! :p :D

Just out of curiosity, do you happen to know what she was singing about? (don't think she was that good anyway, certainly not better than most)

No. I understand Portuguese when it's written, but it's not easy to the ear. It's not that I fell in love either, but at least she caught my attention.

Ok. The lyrics played with the history of Festival da Canção, using some expressions, names and twists the Portuguese imediatelly connect with well known acts of long, like Simone de Oliveira, Madalena Iglésias and so on. It was moderately clever and well written, but more suited to be an interval act than to go on the eurovision stage :)

Re: PORTUGAL 2018

I have listened snippets from the 2nd semi and again I LOVE many...just lie the first semi, I just hope on the night of the semi I will like them equally cause the first semi didn't deliver that GREAT in the end as i expected..

What I LOVE from the second semi based on snippets, in this order:

1. Minnie & Phayra
2. Tamin
3. Lili
4. Claudia Pascoal
5. Susana Tavassos
6. Peter Serrado
7. Daniela Onis

I see Diogo Picara is huge fave, but I didn't fall for snippet, it was kinda boring and non inspiring :(

I see Claudia is quite popular too, I liked her, hope she does well..

She worked with RTP Memória before. You can really tell that with the lyrics of the song  What is strange is that she, a person who has collaborated with RTP before, was selected via that open call by the Antena 1 radio. Not suspicious at all. No way that was the best of the 300 entrants in that contest.

Sound and camera work was very off in the begging...

EDIT: The hosts said there were problems in the begging of the performance, she might sing again. Anyways, meh song

Re: PORTUGAL 2018

Very nice lounge starbucks music to start with, the song goes nowhere unfortunately and that's a shame because she has a nice voice.

Wow, that was... short?
