COMPETING THEMES (177)

1. All Around The World: a real-world country is chosen by the host. All artists competing in this event must be from the chosen country. In the case of groups, the majority of people in the group must be from the country. The song can be in any language.

2. AATW type of Spinoff but with NSC nations

3. AI Cover Spinoff

4. Covers & Remixes 5: everyone has to send cover or remixed version of a song previously entered in the main contest, including the original versions of songs whose covers or remixes were entered in NSC.

5. Major/Minor: songs changed from major into minor key (and vice versa)

6. NSC ESC Classic: any entry from any year allowed

7. NSC NF

8. Oldies: tba, the host can decide the timeframe

I propose that we scrap the spinoff (it makes like no sense anyway) and replace it with some official NSC ESC 2014 voting which would not be an official spinoff, but would be pretty much the same (without chosing countries and stuff)

If Sam doesn't want to host or neither of the other top 5-ers I don't mind hosting again the ESC karaoke ^^

I can probably handle a contest with 15ish participants. I deleted my winning performance, though, so you won't get to hear it again

What about this:

1. Have the regular Karaoke spinoff now (possibly hosted by [MENTION=5607]imthero[/MENTION]?)
2. Start the ESC 2014 Karaoke spinoff as soon as the instrumental versions are out (independently from the regular spinoff schedule)
3. Have a quick poll about the ESC 2014 spinoff (whether the old format should be kept or a simple voting without NSC nations attached should be conducted)

Seems a good time for NSC ESC if everyone is up for it? Although there has been the discussion on having us voting for the countries themselves rather than assigning NSC nations to avoid the fight for songs.

First option is the ESC spinoff like it's always been - NSC countries sending ESC 2014 entries under their own flags
Second option is to have regular ESC voting instead, without picking songs by NSC nations.


I'm for the first one. Regular ranking games have been done million times on thousand forums. With NSC countries involved it's more interesting. And this year, with 90 countries, including WL, and only 37 we may finally have the full pack Maybe even with semis, to have proper simulation
And if we're going to have regular voting, I guess few people will vote; they won't feel motivated to do so.

The poll is closed now (thanks Martin for opening it ) and it looks like we'll stick to the old format! @lolip; since you won last year's spinoff you may host it this year!

Considering the instrumental versions have been released as well, we can run the ESC 2014 Karaoke spinoff at the same time! @imthero; you may host if you want to.

Well I know I won't participate in this spinoff until some rules are changed. How it is now is just crazy.

Actually I think I'm a bit too busy at the moment to be hosting anything, so somebody else can take over.
