I had no idea that he was so young! Very professional performer (unfortunately the song does nothing for me but one of my friends is crazy about it, he's his favourite this year with Louane!).

It’s not about his voice really, it’s just that it’s very lacking imo, not strong enough to carry out this song

I quite like most of our entries actually lol. Super proud of Gåte last year, KEiiNo, Margaret Berger, Mørland and Debrah Scarlett… overall I feel like we’ve got the results we deserved in Eurovision
Believe it or not, I love every one of those, especially Margaret Berger. I jam to “feed you my love” at least once a day lol. I definitely see where you are coming from, putting Kyle up against vocals from Gåte, MB, or Alexandra from Keiino, yes, he is lacking. But I remain hopeful that by the time we hit the big stage it will all come together. The phrase “be my own lighter” has a pretty powerful meaning to Kyle personally so I hope he can share it loud and proud

I think it's probably qualifying. IMO it's not neither particularly bad nor good. The risk is that it gets forgotten in the SF among other 'bops'.

While i still don't like this song, i'm surprised how well the orchestral version worked. Could this be a way of edging towards proposing to re-introduce the orchestra next year?

If Austria wins (one of the world's capitals of symphony orchestras) that would make it even more likely...

He playbacked his Madrid performance though. Might not yet be able to keep up with the stress of eurovision at that young age?

I would not say it is a defenite qualifier yet. Depends on the performance in May.

No. Obvi everything sounds better with live orchestra, but it's just too much work and human resource and technicalities and even just space. They're not gonna make their lives harder than it already is.

NRK reports that Kyle had to undergo some wisdom tooth emergency surgery in Basel today!!
He isn't advised to rehearse/perform/sing in the upcoming days Oo

He should be OK by the dress rehearsals and they should be able to push his 2nd rehearsal back to Saturday with the auto qualifiers if they feel he needs more time, otherwise I guess we will get a Ukraine 2021 style stand in on Wednesday.

Wednesday? That's very ambitious.
When I had my wisdom teeth removed, I had pain for a few days and couldn't even chew for a whole week (I wasn't allowed to play the viola either). I think singing and performing several times can be very challenging or simply not possible (depending on his pain and swollen mouth area).

I unfortunately think he is not ready yet for the pressure of the Eurovision Contest.

I had my doubts about it qualifying, but it is screaming more and more non-qualifier to me.

I was back to work after two days of test no issues and that was with them drilling into my jaw bone, I did take it easy for a couple of days back at work

Seems a bit strange that he didnt remove it earlier before the Contest.

Feels like an easy excuse
Because he's 19 and maybe they only just started coming through, it's not as if you can dictate when they are going to start causing pain, otherwise he could have scheduled them to come on the 19th/20th May when he was back home

^^ Lucky you ;)

I can still remember how I was spitting blood on the parking lot, at home and I looked like a hamster for a few days. I wasn't able to chew any food for almost a week - I can imagine that a singer needs to open his mouth "normally" to, you know, sing properly :D

I mean, there's still enough time for him to heal but I doubt that he will be able to perform/sing/rehearse on Wednesday already - Participating in Eurovision is taking a toll on physically healthy artists, having your wisdom tooth removed is still some sort of surgery. 3-5 days no sport is recommended but of course, it depends on the human being, the surgery and how many teeth got removed.

I still think it was an absolutely horrible experience - I felt like being a protagonist in SAW - like how they drilled into my jaw bone, the big things they used - the sound :D I feel Kyle and hope he has a speed recovery.

I mean, we shouldn't forget that there's still an open wound in his mouth - exercising, rehearsing, singing is kind of "forbidden" for him for a while now - maybe going to work soon afterwards was okay for you (and for others) - I remember myself going to school 2 days afterwards as well but again, I wasn't doing P.E. / had painkillers and couldn't eat/speak normally.

Pretty sure NRK will keep us updated but I wouldn't be surprised if Kyle has to rest until he can rehearse with the Big 5 again (maybe?)
