Not a bad selection overall, nothing incredible but nothing disgraceful. I'm afraid the worst song (My AI, by far) will win it.
I haven't really seen a lot of people in Norway talk positive about it so far, so I am not so sure ;) But anything can happen really.

Wiwibloggs comments are also hating on MGP! I'm here for it! xheart

Stig Karlsen is a disgrace tbh. MGP could be such a good nf with their music industry. UMK-fication needs to happen asap. We don't need 3 semis tbh. Give us 7 songs and that's it. And please not more than 1 gimmicky song. I'm really tired of Norway trying that year after year.

In 2013-2016 they were my fave. country at esc, in 2018-2023 (probably 2024 as well) they are my least favourite one along Moldova, which is just embarrassing for a country like Norway.

As someone who has been an eurovision/MGP fan since...well, since I was born I guess, I have lived through a couple "MGP generals" as we call them over here, and out of those who have been during my time of existence, I think the one who actually really has been most passionate about Eurovision that I can recall is in fact Stig. He takes a lot of time talking to fans and takes their/our opinions about our NF pretty seriously. The only decisions I am not very impressed about lately is their use of autotune in MGP, because I think as long as it is not allowed in Eurovision I don't see any good arguments whatsoever as to why we should have it in MGP and we are many who are against it. And also the use of juries in MGP. But I am not a jury fan in general so I am a bit biased about that one anyway. And while not the AI song, Damdiggida or Woman Show are necessarily my favorites (to put it mildly), I do like that he and those who are choosing are not afraid to take those risks and add acts like this or say Subwoolfer. I do however wish we did not have 3 songs with the 90s dance kinda sound though, because for me they all kinda steal attention away from one another and I could have done without 7-8 radio friendly songs that sounds kinda the same. But he does invite norwegian fans to give feedback after each season, so I think I will tell him that if I am given the chance to do so or at least pass on my thoughts to someone who can. ;) As long as he enjoys it himself, I want him in that chairxheart

But they are never in contention to win with those jury scores! :) The highest place is 17th? They have nothing on Sweden, Ukraine, or Italy (heck even with the Netherlands) which do well with both.

BTW I know it may seem as if I only like ballads and anything that isn't a ballad I automatically hate. Not true. Cha cha cha was in my top 8. I'm excited for Joost Klein. 5miinust is in my top 3 at eesti laul...

But what I hate is cheap music with no substance. And you won't convince me that Queen of Kings, Give that Wolf a Banana, Spirit in the Sky or How to Write a Song had any substance to them. They weren't even original for that matter.

They were just loud and "funny" and the European public eats it up every time because it's Norway. Trust, if Georgia had sent these entries they would've struggled to qualify. And I hate when people bring these types of arguments but it's actually true in Norway's case.

Norwegian televoters are all lunatics, they will LOVE the robot song.

I have just listened to "My AI," and I can see a lot of people identifying with this song, especially those who have been spending a lot of time conversing with chatbots.

TBH I do think he tries his best. I just personally don't agree with his approach at all. :)

Omg Eli Kristin is Xtina scarlat reborn. Then she transforms into Cezar. I'm in tears. Touch of Veeeeeeenus xcry

I also really enjoy Gåte and Ingrid Jasmin.

Keiino is back with their weakest effort, gone are the days of the Monument. This and My AI are trying to ride a trend that is already pretty tired.

As a 2013 Margaret Berger stan, I expected more from Oblivion. Still, nice to see her back.

MIIA's song is cute.

All in all, a fairly great line-up. I have such a love/hate with MGP lmao but lately they've been on the good path.

After hearing Damdiggida's chorus, Oblivion's chorus starts to sound better and better. I really hope this doesn't win.

Speaking of Oblivion, the song is starting to grow on me, but the staging needs to be striking during the instrumental parts.

Gate and Eli Kristin's entries also sound very good to me. Farida's song let me down a bit.

Overall a very good line-up.

team "waltz of death" is here! xqueenbitch
the church is open! xcheer
fine old school melody metal ballad.
my runnner-up is gåte/ulveham.
keeinos song is very bland and also overrated in the german ESC-bubble.
margareth bergers song too - she was definetly the best act in 2013 but not in 2023.
gothminister sounds like the lords or the lords sounds like gothminister - hmmm? xcrazy

Having listened to all the snippets, I think this year's Norwegian selection is worse than the recent ones. Especially the level of the ballads was disappointing (but it would always be hard to live up to the years with Ulrikke, Tiril, Sofie Fjellvang and the likes).

I guess I would pick Keiino as my first impression number one - that might well change, though.

Just listened to all songs. For me there´s a lot of beige songs, not really terrible but just too unexciting. Still I found a few songs I really enjoyed.

My favourites are:

1. Margaret Berger
2. MIIA
3. Eli Kristin

I also enjoyed Farida and Annprincess wasn´t bad either. :)

My personal bottom three are the following songs:

18. KEIINO (Only entry I couldn´t finish)
17. Mathilde SPZ feat. Chris Archer and Slam Dunk
16. Super Rob & Erika Norwich

Let´s see who´s gonna represent  this year, but I would love to see Margaret to go to Malmö again. xcheer

Tumblr, mostly.
k initial ranking time

1. Super Rob & Erica Norwich - "My AI" (effortlessly the best laugh i've had during this preshow so far, now stage this with Gaute in a toy robot costume and Erica as a dilapidated barbie doll for max laffs)
2. Mathilde SPZ ft Chris Archer & Slam Dunk - "Woman Show" (actually GOOD eurodance omg we are not worthy. Only second here because FOMO >>>> )
3. Eli Kristin - "Touch of Venus" (unhinged campfest that segues effortlessly into a colatura stoccata. yes, yes so much)
4. Margaret Berger - "Oblivion" (it's a fun synthpop number, i just wish it was a bit more memorable beyond the AGGRO screechy beat)
5. MISTRA - "Waltz of Death" (this woman did "lenge leve livet" in 84 and returns for the most morose song every committed to chords. Now THAT is what I call personal growth and range, your faves could never)

6. Thomas Jenssen - "Take me to heaven" (this cigarette will either be the biggest live slay or the biggest live disaster, and i'm excited for either)
7. Myra - "Heart on fire" (She's giving "the non-embarrassing You Decides runner-up to lame winner" realness)
8. Vida Vilar - "MER" (literal telenovela intro music xheart)
9. MIIA - "Green Lights" (builds up nicely, needs a live performance to anchor this into either green or yellow)
10. Annprincess - "Save me" (i just stan that's her real name tbh xheart)
11. Gåte - "Ulveham" (has too many things going on, but the woman screaming in native dialect reminds me of Strazdas, and things that remind me of Strazdas are always at least light green)

12. Fredrik Halland - "Stranded" (This is You Let Me Walk Alone, but with a worse chorus. I COULD see this win because Norway are not to be trusted and I would be disappoitned if it did.) (but at least it wouldn't be KEiiNO :-) )
13. Dag Erik Oksvold & Anne Fagerno - "Judge Tendery of Mine" (Presents itself as an intimate country ballad and yet its libretto is full of Yodaisms. Sense making it does not.)
14. Mileo - "You're mine" (operates under the Milan Stankovic principle that he's VERY clearly a smarmy cringedemon that needs to be slain, but also is smarmy in just the right enough amount that it might circle back into hilarity)
15. Gothminister - "We come alive" ("WE COME ALIVE at [x]" at least two fucking dozen times.WE GET IT. All this repetition is just a distraction from the fact that the bag of tricks has been EMPTIED by the halfway mark, and we've just had the same experience with LotL)

16. Farida - "Heartache" (Is she in our out, you will soon find out what it's all about. How did you write three songs for MGP with TRESKO being the only good one. No wonder she denied being in this.)
17. Ingrid Jasmin - "Eya" ("What if Ela was an MGP song" is a question i never wanted answered, thanks for nothing Karlsen.)
18. KEiiNO - "Damdiggida" (Look, I LOVED Spirit and Monument, but this is just dumb and lame and derivative and insulting. It's okay to not like artists you normally enjoy when they miss. KEiiNO can be better than this, and this entry just underlnes their desperation. BE BETTER. If Monument lost, so must this)

Five in green is more than what I could hope for in previous MGP (lol I will 100% HATE My AI if it goes to ESC), hopefully the lives are good.
