As I grew more and more obsessed with the performance from JVF in the semi, I couldnā€™t help but realize how effortlessly they were able to create what so many entries over the last couple years have tried to create: a genuine and spontaneous moment of wacky Eurovision magic. What made it isnā€™t the bagpiper coming on, but rather immediately leaving and having his exit captured, letting the ineptitude and the seams of the entry be shown. Thatā€™s heart.

When I look at Kant torturing out a naughty pun and sending dancers out to bounce on an lol so random object, I see what Iā€™ve seen too much of over the last couple years: calculation, neurotic trend-cashing, all disguised as wacky spontaneity. I feel no heart at all in this entry. For heavenā€™s sake, bring back not trying so hard.

I want to leave myself room to like other entries even less so Iā€™ll give this a very generous :3: points that I reserve the right to take away.

I can't believe they gave up Heaven Sent for Kant.. what.. the.. heck? I'd say Kristy's lack of memorable staging let her down but then I thought Kant's dodgy staging would ruin its chances. It just looks so silly. Far from the worst song in the selection but this wasn't the choice.

Leaving the winner aside for a moment, I'm not sure I trust the taste levels of Maltese people with both the jury and public ranking the Festa song so highly.

Honestly none of the songs was good enough to get really far in eurovision. So the people decided. It's fine.

There is no way the EBU is going to allow this song
There will always be a way if EBU wanted a successful buzz for the event.

Anyways, i don't care, we're serving some Kant this year. Plus it sounds like your typical K-pop fare so I'll take it. :10:

Hahaha well, songwise this is not completely convincing. Itā€™s okay, I kinda enjoy it. Not very elaborate. But the staging was so hilarious, so random that Iā€™d actually call it art. Iā€™ll give extra points for that.

I think Iā€™ll give :5: points for now!

The EBU let :se: pass with "#MILF" when they hosted the event...
Personally, I think that "Kant" isn't "worse" - of course, it's a different case here since "Kant" is part of an entry whilst "Milf" has been said once by a co-host but still... if you allow "Milf", "Kant" should technically be alright as well.
