I love how the more time goes the more you lower and lower the capacity of the arena

get over the butthurt

Well the capacity of the arena will be between 7,500-10,000.

Sorry I will not get over it!! I will never support ESC 2013 in Malmö!

It seems I'll have to step in once again and set things straight. There are just too many rumours floating around in this thread presented as facts from people who have no clue what they are talking about.

Regarding the number of available seats I have seen one published figure and that is 13,500 .
(Source: An interview with SVT Executive Producer Martin Österdahl in the Malmö based newspaper Sydsvenskan, July 9th 2012).

( The arena has a maximum capacity of 15,500 in the audience at concerts, depending on how the stage is set. )

The prices of the official tickets have not yet been published, nor when they will be released. The prices that have been floating around are from third-party event companies, which specialize in buying and reselling event tickets.

hey, why Malmö can't put a roof on Malmö stadium(swedbank stadium)? that would be about 25 k. seats, better than arena.

Give a link to your source about the capacity or else it's not worth anything.

What I read they need to downscale the seats to almost the half part of the capacity. They need stage, green room, place for commentators ect...

So, I must suddenly have to prove my sources... How about you proving yours? And have you actually ever been to the Malmö Arena? Well I guess not.

Nevertheless, for those of you who can understand Swedish here are some links with accurate information:

The number of 13,500 spectators is mentioned twice in this article from the newspaper Sydsvenskan. Once in the article itself, and a second time in the fact box at the end.

In today's paper there is also an article about the current situation regarding tickets. Stating there are no official tickets available so far, only tickets from third-party event companies - and why you should avoid buying tickets from these. You will find that article here.

Finally I have found an airial image from the new Malmö Exhibition Center, which is located just next to the area and which I suspect also will be used somehow. Perhaps as Press Center?

On the picture you'll see the arena in the middle and the Exhibition Center just above it. To the left of the arena is the new Emporia shopping center, which will be the largest shopping center in Scandinavia and is due to open this autumn. Finally just below the arena you see the Malmö - Hyllie railway station. To the right the railway continues into the City Tunnel, which is a railway tunnel (opened in December 2010) underneath Malmö and heading to the Central Station. To the left the tracks continues towards the Öresund bridge and Copenhagen Airport, located just on the other side of the bridge.

Also I hope it's the last Swedish winning in the next 30 years. They really disappointed me,I wasn't expected that exactly from them. ESC goes from something spectacular to something ordinary. I hope the next winning country will be some that never won before,so we'd be in their capital city.
So what? They shouldnt have won 'cuse they won in 1999? If they had the better song, they deserved to win...
And it seems they had the best song since they got votes from literally everyone except Italy...
Besides do you think the casual viewer even has a clue that Sweden won in 1999 (unless the commentar said it)? Who cares?

I think Sietse Bakker is getting enough from me  but i won't let him do:p

He's even saying that arena of 20000-25000 people is not profitable???
He says that you need to sold out both semis and final to be profitable.

So what with Moscou 2009, I remember seeing in the semis lot of empty places?
I know ESC costs a lot, but an arena of 20000 is not profitable, com'on...

[h=1]Swedish hosts advise fans on tickets and accommodation for Malmö 2013[/h]Stockholm, Sweden - Do not buy any tickets yet. That is the call by the production team of the Eurovision Song Contest aimed at the many thousands of people that are planning to visit Malmö in May.

The Eurovision Song Contest is one of the world's biggest TV programs and is followed by many thousands of fans and professionals. Many have already tried to obtain tickets and book hotels since Malmö was announced as the host city.
However, the swedish production group for the event aims to offer reassurance. There is still a way to go until the official tickets for the shows are put on sale. Show producer Christer Björkman advises people not to buy tickets from the channels they are being sold today.
"Do not buy tickets now. As usual there are many who want to profit from the event, but there is a long time before the tickets are released. We will be drawing up plans for the stage and then will subsequently produce a seating plan", he says.
[h=2]Regret the sale of tickets[/h]The executive producer Martin Österdahl apologises for the unauthorised sale of tickets.
"There is no legal way to stop this. If others make use of our brand, logos etc then we will contact them and make sure that they stop", he says.
"In addition we refer to the practice that exists in the industry that dictates that you do not recommend that fans purchase tickets that do not originate from the official sales channels and from the official organiser".
[h=2]The promise - There is accommodation[/h]Christer Björkman has attended nearly every Eurovision Song Contest during the past few decades. He believes that there is no reason for stress amongst those who are already trying to book hotel rooms in Malmö.
"As is customary, the organisers have booked up everything in the way of hotels in order to accomodate the delegations and so on. we know this happens every year. If you are told that there are no hotel rooms available, then that is why but later on they will be released", he says.
In previous years accomodation agencies have been used in various forms in the host cities. Christer Björkman promises a solution that will ensure that all guests are offered rooms in a similar way.
"We are going to look at alternative accomodation and publish the options so that everyone can find a suitable solution".
[h=2]Two international airports[/h]It is already known that the Eurovision Song Contest will take place on the 14th, 16th and 18th of May and therefore it is possible for those who want to, to book their travel. Both Malmö Sturup Airport and Copenhagen Kastrup Airport are located close to the arena.
"Travel is one area in which we do not envisage any problems by already booking now. Access is extremely good when you consider that there are two international airports within 20 minutes of the arena", says Christer Björkman.
[h=2]"Amazing experience"[/h]By choosing Malmö and the Malmö Arena on Sunday, the groundwork for the Eurovision Song Contest has been laid. Christer Björkman believes that an unforgettable world can be created around the event.
"By arranging the event in Malmö, we believe that we can create a Eurovision Song Contest in its true spirit, where focus lies with the heart and the artists. We are going to create a Eurovision world that will be an amazing experience for everyone that visits the city", he says.
"We know after several years of organising Melodifestivalen (the Swedish national selection) at the Malmö Arena that we can create an immensely good atmosphere there with all the emotions that we believe belong to the Eurovision Song Contest. Now we are incredibly charged to reach new creative heights with the shows".
[h=2]News will be published online[/h]From now on all direct news about the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest will be published at Eurovision.tv and Melodifestivalen.se, where the event's official Swedish website will be located. Christer Björkman recommends that all those interested should keep an eye on these websites.
"Follow the websites so that you do not miss anything. We will continually publish all the information there", he says.

Even though I proffered Stockholm, Malmo is a great destination. I still think ESC 2013 will be one of the best ones so far. If someone can be called "passionate ESC nation" then that is definetly Sweden.

Some more details have emerged (some of it has already been reported but it's important to point it out one more time)

- DO NOT buy any tickets yet. There will be on official ticket outlet eventually and we'll let you know when and where to buy the tickets. Any of those websites "selling" tickets are scams.

- City of Malmö and the Scania Regional Council (Region Skåne) together will pay around 20 million SEK (2.3 mill EUR) towards the contest. These two groups will split their responsibilities. The City of Malmo will be responsible for the delegates and visitors to the city as well as accommodation and transport, and arrangements of all the auxiliary programming around the contest. SVT will be responsible about the televising of the contest. 3000 to 4000 hotel rooms have already been booked but some of them will be released once they have determined how many are actually needed. They expect about 70000 visitors.

- A new exhibition centre of Malmömässan right next to Malmö Arena will house the press centre. Folkets Park is expected to have an outdoor party for 10 000 guests, with big screens to follow the contest as well as a club for the fans. The Eurovision Village will be in one of Malmö’s central squares. Malmö Opera house, previously five times the host of Melodifestivalen, has reportedly received an enquiry to host the opening party on 12 May.

A small correction, the exhibition center next to the arena already exists and was opened in February this year.

Nike, I really understand your anger, I also wanted a bigger arena.
But I think it's now not possible anymore to change it so we need to live with it.

I'm still sure Sweden will try to give us a great show, I still want to go
altough the chances are less but ok.
Let's wait and see, maybe it's not as worse as we'll think

How can they expect so much people to visit their city when only 15000 will be able to watch the contest ?

well let's say= 15000* 3 shows = 45 000 (because not everyone will watch all 3 shows) so let's say 40000 and then you'll have people who want to see the atmospere etc so maybe it's possible
