Re: LITHUANIA 2013

Let's say Loreen a year ago when all the work with Euphoria was done, was in a completely different position than she is today. And a big LOL, I don't believe for a minute Peter Boström is the brain behind Euphoria, hahaha. She hesitated to participate a long time and when she finally accepted, it was on terms of "complete freedom" to perform according to her own preferences, her choices of co-workers e.g. Ambra Succi. "Rumours" are she drove Christer Björkman to "madness" during the process. But surely you have heard this story before? It has been told over and over again in the news since Melodifestivalen final.

Ok, so she is the creative force (or one of them) behind the performance? Well kudos to her, but still doesn't change the fact that she's not credited on the track itself. Now there's no use to argue on this, because none of us were there, but with my little knowledge of the music bus., to sell out your credit is not happening unless you're really dumb or something.

Oh, I get your point now - you're searching for positive things. Well, writing your own song is definitely a positive thing, but I wouldn't go as far and say that if HE wrote a song it's good, but if HE DIDN'T it's not. The song is still the same and the quality (therefore) stays the same as well. If it's forgettable, it's forgettable - regardless of who wrote it.

Yes, the artist shown in the video and the talent shown in the song didn't correspond to the shy guy appearing in television. Was it just fake or is the artist there and need another chance? Don't you guys think in this way? :D

edit:
Not really answer your comment here - sorry. The question was not so much if he wrote the music/lyric as it was about the song being part of him as a defined artist. Not easy to define the concept artist though.

Which video? Do you mean in this picture (click)?

Excluding his appearance, I don't really think that "the talent shown in the song didn't correspond to the shy guy appearing in television". He did show his talent - his live vocals were great, totally comparable to his vocals on the studio version. He does lack charisma, but that's something that wasn't shown in the studio version either (actually it even can't be).

I wouldn't say that anything's fake, really. And yes he probably does deserve a second chance, but with a good song. This one just isn't and it wouldn't be even if he was the author.

OK, I admit being a bit unfair, but his performance last night was quite underwhelming from what he hinted in the video. Completely different guy I would say. So, we have exactly the opposite opinion in this matter. :D I mean the song have great potential, but the artist questionable. You mean the guy is good but with a bad song. :p

I'm not familiar with the details of STIM and other payment systems. I think the author(s) of the music and lyrics are one part and the performer another. I don't think the producers are involved in any formal way. Surely they have contracts that specify every little detail regarding the money flow. My guess is that Loreen herself and her record company is getting the minor part in this and the real winners are the authors Thomas G:son and Peter Boström.

But I agree with you that her (and others) contributions should be mentioned in a formal way.

The people credited are the ones gaining the most $$$ from it, and that includes songwriters aswell as producers/composers. No one with actual input in this process would in their right mind sell out their part, and it's not just about the money, it's also about integrity as an artist to actually get credited for the work you've put into the project.

I honestly don't know anything about this. As I said after you quoted, I agree with you that her (and others) contributions should be mentioned in a formal way.

There's probably a reason why they're not credited, and I guess none of us knows why, but I can assure you that if she really had influential input, her name would be there. I don't think Loreen is stupid, and considering her name is credited on other album tracks, she certainly won't give away credits (and why should she if she contributed)?

Anyways, we're getting a bit far from the Lithuanian selection now

Yes and anyways, the main issue was that I can't allow you to rob Loreen from her efforts .

I agreed she's talented however ;)

Don't forget I stanned for her hard to win MF and ESC from the first time she presented her song in MF ;)

Anyways back to Lithuania

Re: LITHUANIA 2013

Can someone tell me how the televote turned out?
My personal three qualifiers from 1. round are:

1. Valery - Taip noriu vėl It's very electronic and contemporary, and also in lithuanian which makes it even more interesting. The lyrics seem very dark. Reminds me somehow of "Frozen" by Madonna. I don't think it will qualify to the final, but if it does, she needs to work on her voice in the chorus.
2. Saulės broliai - Loreen Nice melody. It will qualify, but I don't want it to win. Too silly to send a song like this, after 10 shows.
3. Ugne Smile - Call to your mum Great song. It would've been a classic today, had it been sung by Avril Lavigne in the 00's. The title is nonsense :? Great voice, but annoying inhaling-sounds  Too bad it won't qualify xcry

I also liked Gabrielius Vagelis and of course he will qualify ;) He's damn fine.

Re: LITHUANIA 2013

I cross my fingers for Valerija, but Lithuania have a tendency to overlook the actual interesting stuff (aswell as stuff in their native language) in favor of generic dated songs or pure joke entries :( This have been the case in the latest Lithuanian selections.

So the joke entry won then? Well, Lithuania will never learn apparently and no wonder it remains one of my least favorite countries in this contest (ironically together with neighbor Latvia).

Yeah, it won the televoting. But it isn't 100% sure that they'll qualify to the semifinal, because we're still waiting for the jury results, which will be announced next week.

I actually hope that "Loreen" qualifies to the SF.

Well, I learned two things from Lithuanian ESC selections:

1) The public vote for joke entries
2) The juries vote for utterly generic dated stuff with some boring big vocals

... none of these are ideal
