Re: LITHUANIA 2013

I've just found the original version of Gabrielus Vagelis' song "Sacrifice" from Heat 1 in Lithuanian ♥♥♥ : Paaukoti Tau : Gabrielius - Paaukoti Tau - YouTube

I liked the song in English but I like it much more in Lithuanian version although I cannot understand the lyrics then :) I think more countries should sing their songs in their language :-)

I really hope that song will be sent to Malmö 2013!

 Lithuania is doing well so far digging its own grave. So many great songs have gone to waste. It's gonna be between the joke entries. Timohi, Saulės Broliai or Linas Adomaitis.

That's hilarious! I do actually like many joke entries from Eurovision (Iceland 2006, Lithuania 2006, Ukraine 2007 etc.)
Those we see in Lithuania this year aren't bad either, but there are better songs among them imo. As a fan I'm honestly a bit pissed. 10 long ass shows and they can't even pick out a decent winner

Esc Geek- U posted my life story :D Thanks ;D
If to be honest,I feel so dissapointed.. :( no good songs in yesterday's selection..
Only one song I can see doing well in ESC 2013 is Gabrielius with Sacrifise..
If we will send somebody else you will see another typical fail of Lithuania in ESC .. :D

Re: LITHUANIA 2013

Can someone tell me why Girmantė Vaitkutė qualified instead of Gerai Gerai & Miss Sheep when they got the same amount of points with combined jury- and televote? Does the jury really have the last say? Because that really sucks! Gerai Gerai & Miss Sheep got more televotes, and they should judge from the televote in these situations imo.

When will we know about the wildcards?? I'm definitely hoping for Giedrė Smolskaitė and Gerai Gerai & Miss Sheep! Or did I misunderstand something?

i guess our nf has rule that if song gets more from jury, it qualifies. sadly. :(
about wildcards - no information :(

Re: LITHUANIA 2013

I highly disagree on letting the jury decide in the case of a tie between two songs. In the end the choice should reflect the wider population and not just a small group of people :(
Sometimes these NF's make me go crazy xgaah

Re: LITHUANIA 2013

My rating for the last heat (heat #5):

1. Monika Linkyte - Baby Boy = 9.5/10
2. Baiba - I'm On Fire = 9/10
3. DAR - Jump! = 8/10

4. Loudside - Toks Gyvenimas = 7/10
5. El Fuego - Ledo Gabalelis = 6/10
6. Al Bagdo - Backdoor Superman = 6/10
7. Sepa Asorti - Money = 3/10

The song "Baby Boy" is great, but the live vocal performance was far from perfect ... It seems like she didn't hear herself properly in the first part, because she actually improved her singing in the second part of the song. With a good live performance, this could even win!

"I'm On Fire" is a catchy, uptempo song, which certainly deserves to qualify! It's pretty modern (actually more than "Baby Boy" and "Jump!"), but the main weakness is again the live performance. A good live performance could move this even higher in my rankings!

"Jump!" is my 3rd favourite of this heat so I do think that it deserves a spot in the SF, but there are just sooo many better songs in this competition. I quite like the chorus, but the song as a whole isn't really convicing. I still prefer their last year's try ("Home").

My overall favourite after hearing all the songs is still "Sacrifice"!! It's just the best song for my taste! :D

So the war on native languages continues in ESC, not a single wildcard in Lithuanian! The juries haven't voted for a single entry in Lithuanian to qualify throughout this selection (neither have the voters :()

Oh well.

Well, this year there was only few songs in Lithuanian, and you say we should give wildcard to them, no matter looking trough the song? hmmm

Well, the first problem is the fact that the broadcaster accepted such a few numbers of native language entries in the first place (nothing new though since this has been the tactics of the Lithuanian broadcaster forever it seems)...

No, the best songs should be picked, but I do think the whole situation is unfortunate though. This year the Lithuanian language entries are so-so, but looking at some past years some of the strongest entries were in Lithuanian but they were still robbed from their rightful spots. It looks like your broadcaster is doing like ours... choosing very fer native language entries and on purpose pick not very strong ones.

However, I do think Mundis & Elvina deserved a spot in the final.

I'm so happy and excited right now! Basically my 3 fave songs took those wildcards. Maybe there is still a tiny hope for Lithuania this year xcheer

Re: LITHUANIA 2013

I just listened to the winners of the heats and things don't look so good for Lithuania. I didn't find anything that I liked.
Perhaps their early NF wasn't such a great idea.
