Maybe a little bit of topic,
but the disqualification of Serbia, restored my faith to humanity.A little bit.

It was like the only year apart from 2007 that they deserved to though

2007 is one of the best stages..... and Eurovision in Finland was particularly charming..... the stage, the hosts.... stunning...

I think the stage was too small and uncreative, and the design was just horrible.
And the quality of the songs that year was really bad, there was only like 5 songs (out of 42)

Well, I think the design was inspired by Nokia. The floor design with LED catwalk was very cool and modern. And Finland is the mother of the LED wall.....

2007 was very fresh, exciting and new..... but the results sucked.... but I loved the scoreboard though, best one until today... songwise it was a poor year

2008 Belgrade's stage was a bad copy of Finland and 2009 Moscow was absolutely bloated and a visual nightmare, although the quality of songs improved slightly

2010 was again extremely beautiful, timeless and songwise maybe the best year so far....

I assume this touch pad floor can be turned off to songs that do not want it ? It could work for a country like Estonia with all that dancing and such.

I assume so. I don't think it was active on Poland's test rehearsal, but I can't recall very well

UBIJANIE MAS

Here's the link showing it from a couple of pages back. In the instrumental part with all the circles it looks like it is active as there is small blue spots around the singer.

FilipFromSweden, what the what?! It's one of the most beautiful stage ESC ever had, what makes you think it's not?

Mlyn, i'm agree about the 2007 stage, but not with the 2009 and the 2010 stage, the 2009's LEDs may be too many, but it's great and really make a performance unique, while 2010 that you adore is just plain and boring, the display and the catwalk are the things i really don't like :(

12Points I just think that the stage is so small, it feels like they just took a round floor, a skeleton of a fish and a big LED-screen and I think it just does not work out.

The shame about last year was that Sweden puts Melodifestivalen in the biggest arenas, but Eurovision in the smallest arena possible.

And the stage was not state of the art, the columns and pillars sucked, the butterfly logo as well, because I associate symbolized butterflies with mind controlling.

The interval act was an ode to the oh so tolerant Sweden, as if the rest of Europe lived in caves. And the scoreboard was the same for the third consecutive year. So boring.

You expect so much from Sweden and then it leaves you disappointed. But I guess Sweden was once cool 20 years ago, now they are stuck in klischees.

Stage to me is of less importance, what I care more about is the overall atmosphere. The best Eurovision was held in Norway - great theme, charming hosts

Norway was brilliant, but the best hosts had Finland and Germany....

Helsinki 2007 was brilliant! The stage, the hosts & the theme... one could really feel that Finland was proud to be host. It was my first Eurovision Song Contest & the main reason I fell in love with the whole thing :)
Belgrade 2008 was kind of boring, I don't even know why. The theme was pretty cool & I really liked the postcards but the stage was meh. Everything seemed a bit cheap for me - no offense.
Moscow 2009 was just huge ... everything. The stage was a giant but I think it fitted the arena very well & I have to admit that I was really impressed by the whole setting. The song-qualitiy was very high, it felt like "a battle of giants". The hosts were horrible & it really pissed me off that there was no theme :D
Oslo 2010 ...great theme, lovely stage, great interval act & wonderful hosts. As a German Eurovision Fan this one is a very special year, of course.
Düsseldorf 2011 I guess we proved that you can have a big-ESC without losing atmosphere. I remember that I was really proud of being German that night (and being pissed 'cause I wasn't able to be there :D ). The stage was wow & I still like the theme/postcards. The hosts were brilliant! The interval-acts were meh.
Baku 2012 was ok, I guess. The hosts were not really good & the whole concept seemed not really creative. The stage was cool though.
Malmö 2013 had a great theme & the postcards were the best ever imho (this postcard-music xheart ) Petra was a good host but got really annoying after some time. The stage was good but the overall concept of the contest seemed unfinished and not well-conceived (the voting & the time management)

I guess it's impossible to do a perfect contest (perfection is boring anyway). We should concentrate on the positive aspects rather then moaning about everything. In the end I was never disappointed & I always had some great evenings with a lot of fun :D

I guess you never saw the 2003 contest then. Wonderful theme, charming hosts, excellent songs, a most fantastic stage, and the most exciting scoring since 1988!

No I actually didn't :D

I think Malmö had the best logo ever

Eurobutterfly1.jpg

Whenever that cute butterfly popped up on the tv I was like xlove.
I do agree that the whole concept of the contest last year felt unfinished, but it still brought in some elements that was really good.
Too bad they could not catch that excitement with the qualifiers and the atmosphere that Oslo had.
