Keep in mind that my taste is trash, but yes, it was exactly that good. I didn't really know what to do with the dialogue while I was watching so just kind of laughed uncomfortably for the entire runtime, and Frances McDormand's work is iconic in both the WV-ish sense and the should-be-a-cultural-touchstone sense.

Yas! Oh I have heard great stuff about it plus I don't think your taste is trash, even if it is that's great tbh. Please watch Greta Gerwig's Lady Bird and let me know what you think. I know you're a fan of hers. xheart

I hate to admit it, but I actually do want to. The trailer made me laugh out loud a couple times.

I thought it was promising when I read the synopsis but it's really annoyingly terrbile. I read some reviews afterwards and to paraphrase one: both liberals and conservatives will equally hate it, and honestly I think it's true. :D Really disappointing. :(
BUT watch The Florida Project instead, that one is cute and heartbreaking at the same time. Much better than Baker's first feature Tangerine! :D

Aww, that's a shame. I saw a tweet that really spoke to me once saying something along the lines of "I'm much more interested in movies about 'Will this dinner party go to plan?' than ones about 'Will the universe be saved?" so was kind of looking forward to it. Will probably skip.

Aye, I really want to xlove The trailer looked great; the kid seems really talented. Also want to see Una Mujer Fantástica from your recent list; how is that?

The kid is amazing, seriously! :D As far as Lelio's filmis concerned it starts strong but develops into something that really frustrated me, and that was the point. It's a must see! :D

I don't need Lady Bird to win any Oscars. It's not the best teen movie (and yes, I do think it's a teen movie) I've ever seen. But it was so wonderful. I tried to write out exactly why I thought so but ended up telling the story of my entire adolescence in the process, so I won't bore y'all with it. If you're looking for absolutely brilliant filmmaking, maybe it's not what you're looking for. But as an emotional experience, it made my heart grow three sizes, and maybe it'll do the same for you.

Tinchey hey you should definitely watch "The square"! Freaking awesome.

That was amazing! xheart :fr: is probably gonna win another foreign language film academy award for this!

Why am I always such a flop in predictions? Did not even make it to the shortlist :O

Nicholas123 I will see it next week actually! :D I've heard many mixed opinions from my friends, I liked his other films so this shouldn't be an exception.

I love how France lost the LGBT gig in Oscars run to pretty much an under the radar South African film.
Also I think this is history in the making as these seem to be the most balanced shortlist to date, I expected South Korea to make it even but eh.

Unbloodybelievable. The best movie I've seen in a very, very long time.

Just watched this! omfg xheart xheart

Btw i only realised tonight that Martin McDonagh is the same person who wrote two of the most amazing theatrical plays i had the chance to know in the last decade and i'm talking about "The beauty Queen of Leenan" and "The Pillowman". Both of them were very successful in the theatrical scene of Athens a few years ago! xheart

Rewatched my favourite Pokémon movie ever. It could be an amazing sci-fi, romance movie in Hollywood standards.
