People seem to believe that in order to win it has to be in English and history seems mostly on that side xshrug

In the last 25 years it looks like only 5.5 songs (1990, 91, 95, 98, 04, 07) have won in another language. 2004 "Wild Dances" is the .5 since it was mixed

So yes it will be an uphill battle for this or any other song in any language that isn't English xdoh

But you have to take into account that most of the contestants sing in English. Of course the probability is very high that the winner will be in English when 80-90% (estimated, I didn't count now) of the entries are in English. You would have to calculate the ratio (non english)/(english)-winners and the ratio (non-english)/(english)-entries and compare these ratios for a better comparability.

This! If broadcasters stopped thinking English is mandatory, we'd have plenty of entries in national languages and the winner would most likely be one of them.

I was quite disappointed that Nek didn´t win san Remo last week.
Tbh I´m not a fan of Il Volo and "Grande amore" and so gave only 2 points in the poll. But I think they can do well in Vienna.

I am so excited that Il Volo won, hopefully they will sing Grande Amore in Vienna. And I have to agree with the bookkeepers because I really think they will win the whole thing. :)

Malika as usual has a work of art for her video.Im sure thats something to do with a French film called "Girl on the Bridge",and Malika is playing Vanessa Paradis in the video.Perhaps our French or Italian friends can confirm?,The narrative of that film would fit Adesso e qui,.Stunning song and video.

Seriously? That's pretty conceit and condescending coming from someone with English mother tongue.

English is not the most beautiful language, it's a lazy slang compared to Italian.

Well you certainly read a truckload of things into the comment you were replying to. I don't care whether you like English or not. It's funny when you read people harraging against English on the internet, more often than not I think it's from people who are just frustrated that it's becoming the world language.

Pretty much any language can have something good about it, and those who are most familiar with it are likely aware of that the most.

Malika or Bianca should be going to Vienna, their songs are both infinitely better than Il Volo's imo...

I'm really not buying this huge Italian pastiche of a song. I wonder if many will in the end.
I can actually see it sinking to the humilliating last places in the final, just like Georgia did in 2013. It's roughly the same sort of thing, only Italian is lending it extra charm for many. Early days anyway ;)

I can totally see why people wouldn't like this song. However, what I can't see are any similarities between this song and Waterfalls.....

Let's see what's gonna happen in May   ;)
At least, they won't do the same horrible performance like Emma last year :p
Comparing this with Sognu it's one thing, with Georgia 2013 it's completely laughable.
