Not wanting to dance anymore, but I must dance
There's one (small) consolation I can take from this: despite naysayers repeatedly saying they'd fail like France 2011 because it was "too old fashioned" and even with performing last in final, they finished 3rd. If I hadn't have been a fan of Il Volo before Eurovision, this certainly would have converted me, their performance was amazing and just...*sigh*

The one good thing that came from this is proof that non-English songs still can do well at Eurovision so we may see an influx of them in the future. Of course that also would have happened if Italy had won...

Actually when I think about it doesn't it kind of say that EBU only wants English winners :?

However, it proves that televoters are less prejudice and more open to other languages so I guess its a bit of both

One explanation that non-english songs can do good is that they are a little bit 'unique', especially in a year with only 4 songs like that. Back when there was the language rule, UK was always doing good. Isn't really a coincidence that UK is doing trashy ever since the rule was abolished?

But people weren't voting i guess?

everyone knows its combined jury and televote. its not unfair. but if you really wanna go there.., how about this:

in 2011 italy got 91 televotes and sweden 221 and still italy got 2nd Place and sweden 3rd. you never know what to predict but the jury is there for a reason. im fine with it being scrapped but sweden won fair :)

Now I know why both the Swedish and the Italian performance sounded like the winner to me. ;)
