The song is crazy and imho the biggest favourite so far. I love the chicken dance and noises :D

But it screams Gaypride instead of #metoo. For empowering women, this song is way too camp.

I'm getting emotional guys (not like Whitney tho), I was so lost in this eurovision season. Not feeling the hype about Estonia or Denmark...barely finding a song that could feed my soul.

she delivers. Now I want fireworks, waterworks, chicken, Jedward jumping in the back, All drag race contestants LPFTheirL during her performance, this has to be the best glittery nigthmare ever

Where can I hear the alternative intro that was leaked? I'm not signing up to that VK site, so ideally a registration free vid is preferred. ;)

12 points from me - just too much fun! xyaay

it sems like :il: has found a potential winner for the first time in 20 years, good job

They seem to have a thing for every 20th year...

'78 / '98 / '18?

However they did also win '79, so technically if they'd win they atleast would have hosted every 20th year since... well... '79 xthink

I didn't like the new introduction in the official version as much to begin with, but after a few listens I've come to terms with it. It might not be as catchy in that section as the original version was, but it's more attention-grabbing, and I can imagine it making for a great lead-in on stage. Either way, Netta has now risen to my #1 for the year xheat

This is going to do well. It has the Bojana factor, and The Gays™ are gonna go mental for the live performance.

I don't quite understand that poll and all the insane hype. Is the world getting gayer whilst my gayness is slowly being drained from my body or something? I feel like it's everyone else that's on another planet for once and not me. Not that I dislike the song or anything (it's entertaining) but I find it puzzling how "Toy" is now being spoken of as a potential winner. Just look at those betting odds!

It's too trashy, niche and in your face. The juries will probably damage it greatly, even if it becomes something the public find endearing (which is still a strange thought for me to have, but ok, i'm open to it). A song with a chicken voice pre-chorus is now the favourite to win 2018. I mean yeah, this year is a poor one but surely there are songs with better chances of winning both the public and jury support? Netta is extremely talented. Love or hate what she does, her talent is something that's undeniable, and maybe that's playing some kind of role here? Eccentric people have won the contest, but we haven't even approached this level yet (last time was probably with Verka). I'm just so confused. Had I not seen the hype, my brain would have had this down as something that struggles even to make it past the semi.

By all means though, please do feel free to win Israel.

Alright so after my first listen I just calmly clicked 2 points, does nothing special for me, and then came to see all this hype. It has since grown on me a little but as I'm not booking my flights for Israel 2019 yet, I'll just wait and see what kind of staging they are going to go with. Hope it's incredible!

Okey, this is so dramatically put (I was laughing at it hard) that I can assure you that you still possess a healthy dose of "gayness"

But if we put aside your "drama" (), I totally understand you and for the most part agree with your post. However, I'd like to add one thing. Verka Serduchka is an elaborated act, very sophisticated, and very well-conceived, especially if you consider that it is a transgender act in a country/environment where drag-queens are not really respected or well received. So, comparing Netta's song with Verka is not entirely fair nor adequate. I honestly do not know to what to compare Netta's act. My first association was - oh, human version of Irish Dustin with much better song and much better voice and much better staging. But even this is a far-strech. Netta is definitively a fun act, quite unique, and I see her uniqueness in that she is serious about her participation, she is there to win unlike all previous "mock/funny" entries.

Finally, yep, you are right. Even if audiences go crazy for her, the final question is whether juries will follow the Netta-mania, if it happens. Oh, and one more addition. It is quite interesting to notice that every year which does not have a clear winner is commonly dubbed "weak, average etc." I don't agree with you, as I find a few songs quite well written and probably I will listen to them even after the competition. Moreover, don't you like it that all is still open? This year promises much thrill and drama. At least in my opinion.

well, did you or did you not love party voice? :p

i don't know, i feel the appeal of toy is obvious. behind the obvious amazement at a chicken clucking pre-chorus lies a song with a catchy chorus, empowering lyrics and a very charismatic performer. it's not a shallow joke entry, even if its appeal to some people is exactly that. i don't even feel this year is poor at all (it just lacks an obvious winner, which for some people - not you specifically - makes it sound por for some reason?) and i think it makes perfect sense that people have embraced it the most. i don't think israel will actually win, but people didn't go crazy. (unless czech rep gets top 10. then europe would have gotten very cuckoo bananas.)

Sorry, I needed the drama levels to be high in my post to compensate for the fact i'm not Netta crazy.. yet.

You're definitely right about Netta being serious about her participation, and that probably sets her apart. The problem though is whether that seriousness shines through, and if juries which are likely to be filled with a healthy number of older people will have open minds. What Netta does is clever but as soon as some people hear her clucking, I think it will make for an easy bottom ranking in a lot of lists. Netta's act is very unique but she's taken a huge risk by going for something that's likely to be perceived by default as a joke by a lot of people. I've already tested it on a few unsuspecting friends and they thought it was some kind of piss take.

I actually do like that it's an open year, very much so. I don't like whenever we have such obvious winners. This year will for sure be an exciting one at least, even if i'm personally not feeling many of the songs.

Every year since 2014 we are talking about the actual (televote) winner as impossible act before. That is why Israel is the one and only possible winner of 2018. Mark my birds erm chickens erm words.
