Exactly what I imagined, gosh, what's up with these predictable internal selections? No pleasant surprise yet. It's a bit better than I imagined though, quite listenable. A 6 from me, but no chance of qualifying once again :(

I do like this one - it's gets better with each listening, IMO. Nice going, Ireland :)

We've sunk so far in the last two decades. I mean we were the Eurovision winners. Winning Eurovision was all we did, and listening to those songs on the radio. The contest was ours, and we were its. That was once upon a time, now we never seem to win the Eurovision anymore. Now we're sending all kinds of everything, why us?? I look at the Ryans (Dolan and O'Shaughnessy) and I can't believe it, why us?? If only we could go back to the past, if we could listen to the voice of our history. We wouldn't be afraid, we'd follow Swe(den, in terms of contest success), we just need to answer the call (of fans asking for real music) and we'll be set freeeeeeeeeee. Until then we're just going to have to ask ourselves what's another year in the semis, for a country that's lost everything that it owns? What's another year, for a country that's getting used to not qualifying? To my countrymen I say we just close our eyes, pretend that it's just The Point again, make believe that that moment's here to stay, and for the last time we should hold each other now, don't cry, don't say a word.

Sweet, but pretty forgetable, and I swear, Ireland has sent this entry like, three times in the last five years, or at least it feels like it.

I actually really like this! It's probably in my top 5 this year (although that's more a comment on the standard this year which is exceptionally poor, rather than this song being particularly fantastic).

Though in the 90s the entries were overrated for me (except for In Your Eyes). And when more countries entered and the contest expanded greatly things were bound to change anyway.

He has a good voice, but unfortunately I don't feel that this song is good enough to reach the grand finals.

Not sure if I like this or hate this. Either way, it's still an improvement from last year, but I doubt that Ireland will be able to qualify in such a strong semi.

Cute but....kinda bland and not much overall. I'm looking forward to the live performance though, maybe that will shake things up. Six points for now :D Clearly an improvement from the previous Irish entries though

Not quite as bad as I was expecting, to be honest. I actually really like the verses, which have strong melodies, emotional vocals and a good use of minimalist instrumentation.

That said, things get much blander when we get to the choruses, which feel much weaker melodically and are the sort of repetitive, weak sap I was expecting from Ireland in the first place. The song doesn't really build much throughout either.

On the whole: I don't see this as having great chances to qualify, and there's a lot of wasted potential, but it's at least better than Dying To Try. 4 points.
