It's hard to say without knowing the competition, don't you think? It reminds me of a Eurovision fan wank like Ireland or Israel last year but that just won't appeal to the average viewers. The juries will probably the only thing that could save it. But then again, it's to early to call it.

Of course you are right, that with so few songs known, we can't say for sure either way, but this song is designed from the ground up to make the final, and it will, unless a slew of amazing songs from that semi are announced in the next few weeks. I think this will have more casual appeal than Ireland Israel last year.

You said - read your own post - that this was a song that came up because of Conchitas win. Well, THAT's the point, where I was contradicting you. Something you missed apparently.

You missed the point where I said bye and the point that Conchita's song about self-empowerment triggered an invasion of low-profile self-empowering divas.

Well if you think Maria is a diva, then I understand why you come to that conclusion. Only error: Maria is a diva like a chick is a peacock

How is Maria a diva? She is more of a girl-next-door type. As a diva, you need have the attitude and the pipes.

There's a diva in any girl, that wants to get out. It's human nature, that girls are divas and make nudes of themselves.

But Eurovision law is that last year's winner theme gets echoed in the following year, which for this year is: self-empowerment

I see that some kind of Beige-gate has happened in my absence. I've just come back to listen to the song that has won again. I shall give my opinions of it through the medium of the photograph.

Well after she was announced as a super finalist and was on the stage she gave someone a dirty look. Is that attitude enough.

That is what I call 50 shades of beige...

Undecided on what I think of Iceland's decision here. On one hand, it was my favourite of the bunch - I don't particularly love it, but I disliked the other songs more, so on a personal level I'm glad it won. On the other hand, I can see how other people would have liked Feathers more - it's just not my style of music. I'm thinking I might have preferred to have it win just so that we had some people getting something that they loved over everyone getting something meh. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I prefer a contest filled with divisive songs, where every viewer will love half and hate half, over a contest consisting solely of middle-of-the-road, 5/10 entries.

Still, I think most of us can agree that the winner was better than the second-place alternative.

THE GOOD

-This is a very good interpretation of an RBD song. RBD was a Mexican pop group assembled by Televisa for the teen telenovela Rebelde. This song sounds a lot like one of their songs which is called "Sálvame", and she has a voice similar to Anahí, one of the female members of RBD.
-As such, the vocals fit the bill for the type of song it is. The instrumentals do the job as well, although it's really about the vocals when doing this type of song.

THE BAD

-It can be a bit boring in parts.

THE VERDICT

-This song has a decent shot, which is something I can't say for some of the other entries. While I don't think it'll win, it's a good little pop song any way you slice it. 7 points

I'm in shock, out of all the songs we could've chosen, why María? She'll just join the rest of the power ballads...

Feathers should have won overall, the best entry by far.

Iceland made a bad choice tonight... And apparently one of the top 2 in the jury votes didn't go to the superfinal, I'm guessing that's Feathers, it can't be anything else...

Well, I'm maybe not in shock since I saw this coming, but Sunday was absolutely amazing live, was there.

SO HAPPY WITH THIS! I voted for it three times :) A great entry... if Iceland don't go top five with this I give up on Eurovision. A potential winner in my opinion.
