Re: HUNGARY 2018

Spoiler alert: Gergely will win

I'd have agreed with you about a week ago, but my current thoughts are that AWS is the frontrunner.

Having now seen it confirmed that the superfinal televoting system is different to the televoting in the semis, I'm not entirely sure that semi televote scores are the best indicator. And looking at YouTube counts of the SF live performances, then, indicates that AWS is drawing more hype than anyone else: their semi-final performance is sitting at 123K views (vs. 81K from Tamas and 103K from Gergely, despite Gergely's semi having been a week earlier, and therefore him having his video up for twice as long). Those three are the pretty clear frontrunners based on view counts, with the next highest being Leander Kills at 46K.

Of course, nothing's guaranteed. The Hungarian NF juries have a tendency of surprising with their votes in the final; YouTube views are likely driven more by hardcore Eurovision fans as opposed to casual audiences, who I can imagine preferring Gergely; etc. etc. I certainly wouldn't be too surprised to see any of AWS, Gergely or Tamas (if he can somehow reach the superfinal) win. But in the most likely scenario, my guess is that the superfinal will consist of Zsolt, Gergely, AWS and yesyes, and that out of those four AWS will scrape a televote win over Gergely, followed by yesyes and then Zsolt. At the very least, I don't think it's anything we can be 100% sure about one way or another.

Re: HUNGARY 2018

Azt Mondtad would become my favourite Hungarian entry ever if it's going to Lisbon, I still have chills listening to it for the 20th time xheart

I'll still be happy with Tamas or AWS winning and would rank Hungary high in my top but my heart will forever be broken without Daniefly at Eurovision.

And to round out my triple set of reviews for Super Saturday, here's my reviews and predictions for A Dal 2018 at the link below! Altogether I'm slightly underwhelmed by A Dal, I'd have preferred to see Satellite X and Gabi Knoll in the final, and I'm not sold on thrash metal. Anyway, check them out below if you want!

Well, I'm praying that Tomas Horvath can do a ByeAlex and just sneak into the jury top 4. Even if the juries don't like the song than his vocals should earn him some points at least. It would be the biggest crime of the NF season so far if he misses the ticket to Lisbon.

Yesyes are my backup favourites. I love the accordian in the middle of the song.

AWS would be a big disappointment for me. The song itself isn't bad until the lead singer just starts screaming which destroys the whole song for me. I really can't stand those sort of vocals.

Danielfy would be OK I guess. Still one of Hungary's worst songs in recent years but better than AWS. Everything else in the final isn't really worth mentioning.

Please send 'Meggyfa' Hungary xpray

Re: HUNGARY 2018

I just listened to the songs in the final tonight. I have an infamously bad relationship with Hungarian entries. In 2017 for the first time in years I enjoyed a Hungarian entry. Before that there was a string of songs I strongly disliked all sent in a row together. This is an interesting final in terms of songs. *channels GianlucaTomoe* Completely devoid of women though!? What gives?

Zsolt Süle - Zöld a május Very pleasant song to listen to. Would probably work beautifully in Lisbon.

Dánielfy Gergely - Azt mondtad Beautiful song. It loses me a bit as it gets bigger, as I don't really think he has the depth there in his voice to carry it to where it's trying to go. It's more beautiful when he sings softer.

Gábor Heincz Biga - Good Vibez He's singing in English but I practically couldn't hear a word. I want to say I hate this, but I can't say it with certainty. My feelings are really conflicting ahhhhh. Weird, annoying little song, but it's kind of charming in it's ways. I love how Heincz is really feeling the song.

Leander Kills - Nem szól harang Parts of this I really like (that violinxheart). I totally wasn't expecting it to explode into a metal track. Interesting. It really keeps you on your toes as you're listening to it. It's exciting and something a little different.

AWS - Viszlát nyár Woah. The chorus is blistering man. This is not exactly my kind of rock usually but I think...... I really like it!!! Probably it helps that i've been listening to an American rock band called Sorority Noise like crazy this past year, so my palette has become more accepting of screamo vocals. This song is edging dangerously close on the cheesy side of rock (it's got a key change for goodness sake) but I think it's awesome. Me much impressed. SEND.

Viktor Király - Budapest Girl Oh dear. Those lyrics... that hook!? Please don't go for this. It's catchy though. I'll give it that. Catchy for the wrong reasons. JUST NO! Avoid.

yesyes - I Let You Run Away Not my kind of thing but kind of ok. Powerful chorus.

Horváth Tamás - Meggyfa I don't particularly like this at all, but it feels very Eurovision ready. His vocals are strong.

I want AWS! Kind of an easy choice. I think we need some rock in Lisbon. This isn't my kind of stuff usually but the performance is great. We really, really need this! Come on. Pick it!!

TBH with you, this is a full on metal track. Watching the semi performance doesn't give it a full justice. :D Though for a randomer ONLY listening to the semi live performances because reasons it does sound like a typical reaction... one does expect a useless romantic ballad from this entry and then BOOOOOMMMMM! Metal!
