sooo it has been revealed which artists are going to perform at the German Eurovision Countdown Show. This may be interesting because those who were performing there in the past were usually part of the German Jury.
- Sarah Connor
- Lukas Graham
- Mark Foster
- Ferris MC (Deichkind)
- Revolverheld

Lukas Graham is Danish, isn't he? So I would rule him out as a member of the jury (or are foreigners allowed?) The others all could be in the jury, but I think that the highest chances are with Mark Forster, Sarah Connor and/or Johannes Strate (singer of Revolverheld), not sure about Ferris MC (although that would be nice).

I was really surprised when I learned that Ann-Sophie is only 24 years old. Based on her looks in the "winning" live performance, I thought for the whole time that she is one of those middle-aged singers, desperately trying to look 30. Too much make-up, costume from the early 1990s, absurdly big earrings and indeed, that bun - all that made her look like some cabaret parody of a 45 year old schoolteacher on the verge of a nervous breakdown, screaming on her class "Shut up, or I'll whip you with a cane." I really hope that for the Final she will chose not to hide anymore that she is actually a very good-looking young woman.

As every year there is a Eurovision Songcheck on eurovision.de in which 3 "experts" and the fans talk about the songs and rate them (from 0 to 10). These are the results of yesterdays show in which the first 10 songs were presented (with comments):

1 :be: 8,8/10
"fascinating voice" - "different/special" - "great" - "catchy tune" - "will reach the final without a doubt"

2 :ee: 8,4/10
"good song" - "perfect fitting voices" - "radio-friendly but also something special" - "it's cool" - "retro with modern elements" - "will reach Top 10 but won't win because of the weak live-performance" - "too static"

3 :at: 7,6/10
"kind of exchangeable" - "sounds very Coldplay" - "camp-fire-romantic without fire" - "ok, something is missing" - "thoroughbred musicians" - "they should get rid of the burning piano"

4 :nl: 6,6/10
"great hook" - "one would like to dance" - "a bit too repetitive" - "has no highlights" - "sounds good but a bit dated" - "strong and mature" - "strong women with a great voice" - "Final without a doubt"

5 :mk: 6,15/10
"charming" - "good but not amazing" - "good singer/good voice" - "Macedonian-version was better then the English one" - "not bad but boring melody"

6 :fi: 6/10
"the best Finish entry since 2006" - "great punk-rock" - "get's better and better with every listening" - "They love to make music. One can hear that" - "great lyrics"

7 :es: 5,6/10
"she has a great voice and is very beautiful" - "too much of everything" - "love the Spanish-lyrics" - "it's doesn't reach me/ emotionless"

8 :am: 4,5/10
"well meant but not well done" - "creative" - "too dramatic" - "people won't get the massage of the song" - "seems chaotic and unfinished"

9 :gr: 3,6/10
"no emotions at all" - "beautiful ballad and great voice but something is missing" - "very constructed" - "too simple"

10 :md: 3,25/10
"good opener" - "not strong enough" - "not original" - "sounds a bit like karaoke"

GermanBango Thank you so much, I've always wanted to know what they were thinking of the songs in Songcheck. As I can't speak German, this is the first time I get to read their impressions, could you please translate the next rounds when they are released? :)

I have just checked her too, and you're right! She was born in 1990... she's my age! I thought she's over 30...

Unlikely a part of the jury, als Revolverheld worked together (recorded a single together) with Marta Jandova, who participates for the Czech Republic, so one could assume he (the singer) would not be neutral when voting.

Is it just me or has her voice improved a lot?

This performance was really enjoyable to hear whereas I was very doubtful after her performance in 'Unser Star für Österreich'
The background singers do a good job as well

Few days ago I created a ranking based on Youtube ranking videos (I tried to chose rankings from youtubers from as many different countries as possible, so that it's a bit more meaningful) and Germany finished up on a good 10th place
Obviously that is far away from being a serious prediction for the ESC (Spain reached surprisingly the first place :D ) but it shows somehow that this song is received well in abroad, maybe better than here in Germany
I expect a result that is much better then the results of the previous two years. However I think "dark horse" is maybe too far-fetched
