Currently rank 29 in this list. According to that, "Black Smoke" would not even pass the semifinal if it had to compete there.
After all the positive reactions to the rehearsing yesterday, even I find that a little hard to understand.
One other country seems to know how to impress an audience: France (climbing 15 places).
I think there is a hint for that on this betting site:

The eurovision.tv excerpt came from the powerful final minute when she’s joined on stage by four drummer boys in beige. What that clip didn’t show you was the rather long two minutes that leads up to this climax. ‘N’oubliez Pas’ remains a dated song lacking any real hook.
The french snippet was from the best part of the performance, while the german one was from a rather uneventful moment. Even I expected more when I saw it (
my previous message), but that was before I saw the pictures, which were telling a different story than the snippet.
Furthermore, I've followed all of Ann Sophie's journey until the rehearsal. I've seen the changes in the different performances. Thus, I know that her performance is probably going to be very much like the one at Schlag den Raab, and I can put together this and the rehearsal pictures and have a good guess of what we'll see on 23rd.
The betters know none of this. They don't have seen her performances so far, and maybe they haven't even seen the pictures. If they've only seen the snippet, it's reasonable that Germany hasn't climbed the odds like France.
