Is it real what I read : Glorious is not aired on German radios ?

hm ? I don't know I heard in 2 times or something .... the problem is that the ESC isn't such a big thing here so they do not often play our entry. thats "normal" :D

Malta, Greece, Iceland... atleast in audience numbers...

I have no clue about other countries though xshrug

I don't believe it's a big thing in Greece, although there might be a more than average interest. Iceland and Malta yes, it might.... but then again, there's so litle of them, they are such small countries.

Greece usually have high audience numbers for ESC... one of the highest of all participating countries.

But there are still over 8 Mil. ESC-viewers here in Germany (2012) in 2011 there were even 13 Mil. :D
I don't know many TV Shows with that high viewing figures ... besides of football-matches ....
so I don't get why the ESC is so "unpopular" in the German press and media .... kind of annoying but I guess it's even worse in other countries where the viewing figures are much lower ^^

If Germans would watch it like the Swedes does though... the audience number in Germany would be around 30 millions

Yeah ... that would be great :D
But I have do admit that I am glad that the viewing figures here are relatively stable compared to other countries .... I think the UK and France a good examples but they just need better results :p

UK and France need to look at Germany that Big countries can be successful if they actually started to care and not treat this as a joke contest (especially BBC need to learn that finally).

And yet the BBC normally has higher viewing rates than German TV. xrofl2

Yes, if we would have won Eurovision, we would never had thounsands of people welcoming our leader like Lena was ! And there is no giant screens on the streets, etc...

Seen from France, Eurovision is a big thing in Germany but Eurovision is still despised by the intellectual... BTW, finding out how many people were in Hannover to welcome Lena (I didn't want to say nonsense ! :D ) and I found out a press article from France saying that the German youth was idiot because it supported the winning of Lena instead of being interested in the political debate... That's f****** idiot ! The one doesn't prevent from the other... But the article seemed to say that the German youth was lost because they cheered for a tacky and bad TV show...

BTW, Glorious is not a typical entry. It's from Cascada and it will win Eurovision ! :D

Our broadcaster doesn't treat Eurovision as a joke. They do it seriously. But our broadcaster IS a joke itself !

France 3 is mainly watched by grandparents with Inspector Derrick, Barnaby and all his friends !

It does?

I actually didn't know that... I thought they had less. Regardless they still treat is as a joke

Really? Even in 2011, when Germany hosted the event, a higher percentage of the British public was watching. IMHO they do not view ESC as a "joke" necessarily but they traditionally have a much stronger sense of humour about the contest. Which even would be acceptable if they stopped accusing others of cheating everytime it is not going their way. However, none of their five last entries can be objectively classified as a "joke" entry.

In 2012 the German viewing rate was slightly higher Source

Blue & Jedward definitely boosted the UK interest over the past few years. I believe that a lot of UK people love eurovision more than they'd like to admit, I mean viewing figures have been quite high. It's almost shame based :D

I wasn't looking at the market share but at the number of viewers in proportion to the population of the country. ;)

We agree on the rest of your comment though. Might it now be Cascada increasing the Eurovision interest for this year??

There are quite a few closet Eurovision fans in the UK. It's quite popular, but few will readily admit they love it.

They love to hate it, which is fine by me. I love making fun of entries too, it's just that many British viewers tend to add to that "But we were the best and we lost UNFAIRRrr whine whine whine".

I wonder if the ESC is a big thing anywhere but Sweden, Norway and Azerbaijan... :?

In Finland is quite popular. Surprisingly it is, I would say, If you consider the bad result that Finland has gotten year by year (except 2006)
