poor Esma :(
She really deserves something better!

Did anyone force her to sing this? No...

She could have handed in her veto but she didn't...

It's still beyond me why they just didn't settle for "Imperija" in the end...

Exactly, Imperija is little more than a flat Europop gimmick. Pred da se razdeni is no masterpiece either but more representative of actual music from there and, yeah, in addition has more artistic merits.

That's not what I answered to though, I answered to the comment "poor Esma she deserved something better"... she is a grown woman, she can speak up if she doesn't wanna do something.

I will never get such comments... xshrug

But she signed contract with the broadcaster and she should do what they tell her ;)

And beyond you it is bound to remain. They must obviously have had their reasons. They just didn't rush to explain them to you, lol.

Well... She is obviously not happy with this song and the situation but she stays because she don't want to dissapoint those who would like to see her taking part in the ESC! That's a horrible situation for everyone who is involved. Both are great artists but as it seems the whole thing is a mess for them (Yes for Vlatko too). I guess so much negative critism would make everyone sad. We should not forget that every human being has feelings and wants to be accepted ... I mean HELLO?! They want to represent their country and what do they get? A shitstorm .... surely great for their self-confidence!

I understand what Alister is trying to say. If I understand the situation correctly both Esma and Vlatko agreed to represent Macedonia under the broadcaster's term to pick the song. It was their decision to sing whatever they put in front of them. At that point the artist can decide to sign the papers or not not but once done they must have known there was a fair chance the song could be bad.
So yes, I wouldn't say I feel bad for either of the artists. Though I am also not criticizing or blaming them for the song either. It just seems like colaboration gone wrong.

So then she should have read it better then... she's not 12 xshrug

She's a grown woman that has been in the business for a long time... it comes across as kinda silly that she's complaining now.

But didn't Esma's son or something write the song?

Anyways, my point was that they're both grown people and should know how the business and how contracts works. I get that this is probably a contract issue, but it's silly to come afterwards and whine about it... then she should have not signed it in the first place or atleast try to add something to it before signing.

According to the translated script he only wrote Esma's parts but didn't really have a say in the song choice or Vlatko's parts.

I see... but then her whining comes across as even stranger because she complained about HER parts

She complained that her parts are too small and that she's Vlatko's backup singer.

Or maybe she thinks her son is a sucky song writer...you never know

Yes, but she also complained about singing in Romani and not Macedonian (atleast if that transcript is correct) ... but maybe the broadcaster "forced" her to do that aswell? xshrug

Whoever believe in the Illuminati theories would have a field-day here because it seems every time someone sings some bad entry it's blamed on everyone else but themselves... like they have zero say

I, being from Serbia, hardly can believe Esma Redzepova was complaining for singing in Gypsy language..that must be misunderstanding (from article) or a lie.. :/
