I like the song and gave it 6 points, but I don't understand these results at all.... "Rêve de gamin" was the best and most special song by far and it came SECOND LAST???? WTF! I know Nassi's performance wasn't perfect, but come on, it wasn't THAT BAD and neither the rest were absolutely flawless. What a wasted chance.... And my other choice would've been Lisandro.

It's a nice song, but I can't see it getting a massive support, so I smell France dropping its last good results.

I do utterly agree with you on this point. Ailleurs is higher than Rêve de Gamin, such a shame!

Actually if you turn up the french radio, you only hear Rêves de Gamin . Because that's the kind of stuff that is charting for like years now. So I guess people are a little bit fed up and it already felt dated actually. So if you're not in France I can totally see why you're liking this, it's like hearing papaoutai for the first time, it's like okay yeah great tune. Then you have papaoutai 204, not as good as the first one but still not that bad, just not so unique and interesting. Nassi is just composing for a lot of people and his sound is everywhere.

Does anyone know whether there'll be a revamp for this song regarding the rhythm, the beat or the lyrics?

Ok I have to upgrade it from 7 to 12 points. Such a haunting, almost hypnotic and melancholic melody. And those metaphorical lyrics ... I love how they play with the denotations and phonetics of the English "mercy" and the French "merci". xclap

Yasss Mercy!! xbow xbow xbow

I love the song since they revealed the snippet xheart
and I was afraid that Madame Monsieur lost to Lisandro and Emmy (and yes they lost in International Jury votes)
but bless the public vote! xbow

Good luck in the final!

Beautiful! I love it -- both the imagery and poetic nature of the words, and the composition. Hope this does very well!

I urge Monaco and Luxemburg to quickly sign in for this year and send Lissandro and Emmy or even Nassi or Igit if they want. Their songs must not be unheard in Lisbon!
yes, I know that this is not possible, still...

Hey! A BIG LIKE to your comment. xupxupxupxupxupxuphttp://escunited.com/forum/images/smilies/good2.gif
Although MERCY was my very very big favorite and I'm extremely happy it won I would like to see many other songs from the french selection at the ESC (including Lisandro's and Emmy's songs). The french national selection had a really high level.
And definitely the France will be in my top this year. Gave 12 pts to the song.:)

They had a great selection this year and at the end picked one of the weakest songs in their final. I know most of you disagree with this, but what do to. Also, the gap between international jury vote and French public tells you something, too.

LOL. I seriously hope that you're actually evoking the terrible jury votes and not the redeeming televote results.

Good attempt from France sending something different, in French and using a national final as the selection method. I can’t see it doing good in ESC anyway, no way she will get a high place as Amir or Alma did.
As I said, I appreciate the attempt but unfortunately it’s not my cup of tea. It won’t be the worst song anyway. 5 points.

MM will place way higher than Alma if they don't mess up the staging all over again.

This is one of the best songs that France ever sent for a while.

First of all RIP "Ciao", it probably would've been in my top 10 all time Eurovision entries, but it's forgotten now... welp  I'm glad the public put it second, though.

"Mercy", however ... I didn't think much of it at the start, I heard it for the first time when I passively watched the final and it felt quite empty and generic. But later knowing the meaning has added so much to it and the "coldness" makes sense and works. The song itself has also grown on me immensely, I'm quite obsessed with it. Most of all I admire how genius in a way this song is. Not just with the wordplay, but you definetly expect an emotional ballad with the lyrical content and on the other hand don't expect these lyrics with this type of song, so this is really refreshing. Even if it certainly might be a problem for the wider public at Eurovision, the lyrics add so much to it, and I'm not sure if it can be captured and understood fully just with the performance ... I'm glad the song is the way it is. It's not the most interesting song musically, but as a whole piece it totally is. And it's definetly full of quality, the fairly minimalistic/understated but fantastic production makes it a refreshingly classy piece of electropop. The chorus & her low vocals in the verses are all highly addictive to me. I'm really glad they're bringing such an amazing and emotional and hitting song to Eurovision in such a smart package, devastating and dark yet hopeful and beautiful. Even if it all certainly doesn't work the same way without knowing the lyrics.

I do really hope this NF will continue for years to come and keep on bringing these gems. xheart

I personally like the choice my country made this year. Mercy is a very great song, with great vibes, sending a real message of humanity to Europe. Lisandro was a great contender too, he had (has) the voice, a great staging, a cool song (maybe too generic), and I would have been happy if he won. Emmy was great too, but the song was repetitive and I don't think it would have done so well in Eurovision. The rest was pretty cool too, except few songs like 'Ailleurs' .. The NF was definitly well done, it has to happen again next year. Coming back to Mercy and Madame Monsieur, I feel like France is really behind them this year. The song was #1 on Itunes during three days after it won the NF and it's already starting to be played on big radios, especially 'NRJ' .. It's wonderful. For the Eurovision, I really think they have a chance, but they have to work hard to put out a great video, a great staging (without going too far obviously, it has to match the song), and maybe they could also revamp the song a little bit as there's no official version for the Eurovision as of now, only the live performance. I don't want them to put english lyrics in the song, but they could embellish the instrumental to make the song more powerful. Finally, I would say that they has to find a way to make the song's message understandable in all Europe, because it really gives the song an other dimension.

Malo's album is a gem. Too many great songs within. I sure wish he would have won but I am glad that I watched the NF and had a chance to check his other works. One of the best things I love about Eurovision, just got to know an amazing singer and many great songs that otherwise I would probably never be able to discover.
