Austria returned after Germany won and so did Italy. The Czech Republic returned after Austria won. There certainly was a connection.

If you want Slovakia to return please vote for Hungary!!! :)

Slovakia and Hungary hate each other don't they?

The post was about neighbours not friends. ;) We have some unsolved conflicts. That is true, but the situation is better than some years ago. There were elections in Slovakia some weeks ago and a slovakian-hungarian party (Most-Híd) joined the government to represent hungarian minorities and conduce reconciliation between slovaks and magyars. Despite these issues I think if a country like Hungary - without instant 12 points from neighbours and cultural blocks (slavic, soviet, nordic, balkan, baltic, etc), without extreme artist like Conchita - wins the whole contest this fact will be incentive for countries like Slovakia. Or a spanish victory for Portugal, and maybe a new azeri victory for Turkey.

Pssssst France is currently leading my Eurovision-Oracle-Poll after 3/6 people have voted (They predicted the right winner in 2009-2013 and in 2015) xshifty

As much as I want this to win I think it will flop like last year Estonia. I don't think with geopolitical votes and a strong scene presence (that so far Sergey has show and Amir has looked unimpressive kinda) he can get first place

Earlier today, we had our first guest on the Eurovision Division podcast. Roommate Rebecca from France joined us to listen to "J'ai cherché" for the first time and talk to us about her home country. We talk about different languages at the Eurovision Song Contest, the difference between "ohoho" and "lalala", and most importantly, we accidentally mention Loïc Nottet a lot.

We go a little less into detail than usual, but there's some fun discussion.

Our 7th episode is out on Soundcloud and YouTube right now.

Well 7th is already a great place. France didn't reach a better place since 2002 (5th). And if the producers do not act like ***holes, I don't think that our draw will be as bad in the final.
We had a TV interview of Amir and Nathalie André and it was great to see such enthusiasm from them

BTW, this picture is so sweet.

Any position higher than 20th would be a success for us.

As for the draw, we have yet to find out in which half we will perform and which countries will join us. If the final ends up being imbalanced like last year (most strong entries in the first half), we may be in trouble even more.

We hold the record of the most rubbish starting positions since the EBU opted for the non-random draw (1st, 14th, 2nd...), we can still encounter difficulties.

Hopefully Bjorkman won't give France the infamous slot 2. He shouldn't because France had this doubtful pleasure to perform second last year - but you never know what is on his mind...

I don't know if it's been posted here (so apologies if it has) but apparently for this edition France is been listed as French Republic (and will be called that on the scoreboard, because the name clashes with Frans from Sweden.

That was an April Fool's joke.
