...but seriously:
If Finland qualifies tonight for the final, this would be the biggest discrimination possible.
Everyone in Europe would know that people only voted for them out of sympathy, and not because they like the song.
And by the way: PKN themselves say that they do not want to be treated differently just because of their handicap.

For what it's worth, PKN have got a lot of coverage for being the first punk band in ESC (as well as their disabilities, which I agree shouldn't matter when judging the entry).

I'd like to point out that it's not impossible to like the song, though - if I completely disregard who's performing it, and I do, it's an 8-pointer for me and in my top ten this year. Pretty sure many will agree with me, if not on forums like this. Just a shame I live in Finland…
As far as I can see, PKN are 50/50 to qualify. It could go either way and it mainly depends on the televote, but I hope they will. If I had to bet, I'd be pessimistic and bet on them not qualifying, but who knows.

I wouldn't mind seeing Finland in the final, although I doubt it. It's something different and interesting. Go Suomi!

That's a massive assumption to make and also a wrong one. If PKN make the final it will be because they've offered something fresh and different to what is the norm in the ESC Bubble i'd like to think. When I read comments from people that actually like this kind of music, it's overwhelmingly positive with comments such as "If I close my eyes I wouldn't know these guys are disabled". Punk music sounds like this. It's raw, it's crummy, it's upfront. This is the first time we've had a song like this at contest. There is nothing else to compare it to. If these guys go through tonight then i'd like to think it's because people have enjoyed and respected what these guys are doing here. Music is a subjective thing. Some people look for finery, others don't. There are a few songs this year that are very popular among fans and I find them to be incredibly cold and disingenuous. What I love about PKN is that they are incredibly real. There is absolutely no reason to feel sorry for the band, and I never have done. From day one i've just liked their song. They've given an honest piece of themselves and they deserve this.

Yes, they'll no doubt be a few votes thrown their way because they are mentally disabled. Then again they'll also be a few votes thrown Mans' way because he's hot, or votes for Russia because it's Russia, stuff like that. PKN have a disability but their song is as polarizing as possible. If they reach the final they would have earned it in my opinion. It's the only thing i'm really hoping for tonight actually.

I hope they qualify. I don't want them to win but I would be very disappointed, if they didn't qualify.

heard the song for the first time tonight :D

i liked it, the performance was very good but i guess this genre is too much for esc xshrug

btw, later during the evening i found out guys are with special needs. i honestly didn't have a clue (i heard a band was on esc but i thought they are for iceland for some reason, nevermind), they were great on stage :)

edit: voted, gave them a 10 but omg so many 0's? yeah, this genre is definitely too much for esc. too bad.

So much for the "would win the televote" "top 10 for sure" comments.

It wasn't as awful as i thought it would be, but still pretty bad. They clearly didn't get a sympathy vote, so is Monika from Poland in danger?

Let's see the split results. I have a feeing that this one avctually got less points from the public, than from the juries. I'm happy that they didn't go to the final just because of their condition, but were treated the same wy as the other artists.

I'm a little disappointed, but you know what? I'm a happy camper. They did a nice job tonight, and they did what they had to do. It helps that their spot probably went to Bojana, which I'll take 9 times out of 10 over the reverse.

And that's how we show Finland that we didn't get their joke.

It wasn't a joke at all, it was a serious punk. Maybe some people can't get it, but it's very simple. Anyway, Finland never expect to qualify or be ranked high, so no regrets, Finland can be proud of it

i didn't see this as a joke either xshrug

it's a regular genre, just not mainstream and not all over the place.

Game over. Hopefully YLE learned their lesson now and UMK16 won't be another fiasco.
