How can anyone call 12th in semi "support"? xshrug

If it were up to juries alone, Bulgaria wouldn't have qualified regardless... and don't even let me start on 2012-2013 where the juries are solely responsible for Bulgaria not making it!

Juries have the power to make or break a country as much as televoters have, support would have been within the top. 10 and not outside of it.

Still more support than the one they got by the televoters that year ;)

With that logic, 15th could be considered "support" aswell (as long as it's higher than the other voting groups' position), but it's hardly as if it would make any difference in the end right? xshrug

At the end of the day this 'jury' hath robbed Bulgaria two times from performing in the final and never voted them in (neither via 50/50 nor 100%). ;)

Lack of money is just a excuse in Serbian case. RTS paid a millions of euros for exclusive broadcast rights of World Football Cup and Winter Olympics next year. This weekend will start World Handball Champs in Serbia and RTS is major media sponsor.

There is money (and thats not a too much money for one television, i mean for ESC costs) but real reason is huge lack of interest among the singers and composers. Famous singers are just not interested for ESC

I guess 40 countries for Copenhagen, these 36 confirmed countries, plus 2 more (Greece & Slovenia), plus 2 more, probably to me, Bulgaria & Serbia. I also give few chances for Cyprus!

I think 39 countries will participate in Copenhagen. These 36 countries + Greece + Slovenia + (i think so) Serbia, cause Serbia will probably get sponsors for its participation.

Maybe! We all hope so, but in my opinion Serbia is most probable to return. The situation of Bulgaria seems to me like the rumours in cyprus of finding sponsors. So I would say:
Greece 90% in the contest
Slovenia 70 %
Serbia 50%
Bulgaria and Cyprus 30%
Croatia 10%

They are not rumours. BNT held special TV programme for that and they explained the situation and the solutions they are currently opting for ;)
Which broadcaster is doing such big TV discussions for the sake of nothing if they are not eager to participate? ;)

It's even on the official website of the broadcaster.

38 would be the most I believe. It's not a terrible number.

Yes but we must consider, that if Portugal,Bosnia, and Poland would not come back,
and if Greece,Slovenia and Romania wound not manage to find sponsors,
then the countries would be only 32.

There is a possibility that in 2014 we will have 36 countries.
That means 15 countries in each semi.10/15 will go the Final.
I think Ebu should consider -especially this year- the number of qualifying countries. For me 9 (or even 8) would be ideal number.

Why should we do that? I don't get it. Isn't it better that the countries have a higher chance to get to the final than the last years?

No.Because 1)more crap songs will make it to the Final & 2) think about a Final with 4 songs less (22),it means 20 minutes less of time, and people who watch the show will not be bored.

It seems alright in theory, in order to keep only good entries in. However i'm sure the EBU will get huge complaints from the countries who come 9th/10th and would of made the final in other years. I doubt the EBU will change anything until we see what its like in January. I understand where you're coming from though, have like 15/14 countries in each semi will take the competition out of it a bit...

I remember in 2008 when the jury had power to pick one song they wanted in the final regardless of the televote. I remember in one semi Poland was their 10th pick but Poland was 10th in the televote anyway so it didn't matter. In the other semi however the jury bumped out Macedonia in favor of Sweden.

I know nobody probably complained cause bumping Macedonia for Sweden was probably popular among fans but it felt like the EBU knew they were playing with fire so they decided next year to put the jury in completely and have them count for 50%. If felt right in theory but just didn't seem fair, just like moving the qualifiers from 10 to 8 doesn't either.
