If Victoria Silvstedt hosted the show, I think I'd want to crawl under a rock somewhere out of embarrassment. Might as well give the job to Kissie or Paulina Starborn while you're at it. I don't want boring and safe, but I don't want pathetic and dumb either. Sarah Dawn Finer either as herself or in various characters would be awesome.

As for the stage, while I like LCD screens, I don't want it to be only screens back there. The way it's been for the past few years is that the stage looks way too empty when there's nothing on it. I'd prefer some kind of backdrop structures on stage, framing it in a bit. Just something to make it interesting.

Why am I not surprised at this comment from a Swede?

The comparison just SCREAMS lack of knowledge and Jantelag

She has nothing in common with those you just mentioned, wow ignorance. Victoria would be fun and she can speak French. Stop being so prudish.

I'm not really surprised you'd think of someone like her either. ;)

The comparison was solely based on the fact that all three act like blond bimbos with zero IQ whenever they appear on TV. That is all. It's nothing to do with Jantelag whatsoever, but feel free to assume whatever you want.

I'm all for having someone funny and outgoing - hell sexy is just fine. While Victoria is outgoing, she's neither funny nor sexy. Since almost all of the hosts the past few years have been disasters in my opinion, what's so wrong with wanting to have someone a bit more professional?

Yes it's Jantelag because she has nothing in common with those, yet you just had to make that comparison.

I guess you're just not fond of the idea of a blonde with big boobies because in your mind they're all the same and equal "dumb".

She would add some spice, she's an international name fluent in languages needed and she IS indeed funny and used to being a hostess in different occasions. She's far more professional than those dumb people SVT hires. Boring and ugly = professional?

Stargazer and me are like day and light. He/she represents all the ideas that are current and mainstream in Sweden which I really can't stand.

I don't doubt he/she is a nice person though, but our opinions are totally different from each other.

I hope this year's Eurovision Song Contest will be working on a new design team, and we will have a unique design (I already say "we") in the blue-yellow-white colors. No more black! I'm tired!
And of course it must be Stockholm. xcheer
Hosts just have to be Sara and Gina, as well as Måns :D (or Loreen!)

I didn't say they had anything in common, except for their behavior on TV. It's nothing to do with their looks, size of boobs or color of their hair. I just cannot stand people who act like dumb bimbos, regardless of their appearance. And it's not due to the Jantelag like you seem so obsessed with, people can be outgoing and conspicuous, I don't care, I'm just 'allergic' to pathetic and/or dumb people. She's funny to you but she's not funny to me. Different strokes for different folks. Who are the boring and ugly people that SVT usually hires for MF?

I don't always agree with the choices SVT makes. I agree with you on several points, especially about the PC thing and not having a genuine Swedish interval act. I completely agree. It'd be very typical of SVT to go for a Rinkeby/Rosengård dance grew or some ultra modernistic/minimalistic artsy installment that says nothing about Sweden as a country.

I'm a she. I'm quite amused that you'd consider my opinions current and mainstream seeing as I'm usually everything but mainstream. I don't have a mainstream taste in music, films, literature, fashion or any kind of trends whatsoever. I usually like the opposite of what everyone else likes.

Oh yes, bring Måns, I was so down, that he didn't go to Helsinki in 2007, but this **** band The Ark.... :S

Maybe you could make a sing-a-long with the audience then and sing the greatest Swedish Eurovision hits....

Our MF hosts even did their own version of it, right afterwards:

Yes! Get the company that did the graphics for MF to do the graphics this year, no more Turquoise Branding!
And Sarah/Gina/Mans would be fantastic, although maybe Christine Meltzer or Bjorn Gustafsson would also do very well as hosts!

I actually think I'd be perfectly fine with Måns Zelmerlöw; I used to think he seemed like the biggest douche (probably due to him dating Marie Serneholt - the first time I realized that a couple could look plastic together), but then I saw him make out with Charlotte Perelli and share a cab with her, and suddenly everything about him became extremely funny. That is a completely true story, by the way!

Anyways, he seems nice enough and also he's popular and handsome, knows german/english quite well, and has the experience. I think he'd be great! I'd like for his co-host to be a woman who isn't so... flashy. Like, definitely not Victoria Silvstedt who has a career built around that men wants her as their f***-puppet (sorry but come on!), but more of a down to earth, funny and confident woman - but still edgy. Because Sweden has loads and loads of intelligent women in the media who are all of these things, I feel like this is what SVT should choose. I'm not even sure I have a name to suggest but maybe, I don't now.. Kitty Jutbring and Elsa Billgren? Haha sounds kind of weird but maybe you guys understand what I'm going after. I guess one could argue Gina Dirawi fits the description but I'm not too fond of her so I'd rather not see her on my screen again!

I for one am definitely going to miss Globen, but still it's exciting that we might hold the biggest party in Europe in a venue that has room for 67.000 people. Amazing! And I prefer Stockholm because, well, it's Stockholm; I love that place to pieces. It's beautiful and it's the capital, I mean it would feel wrong to have it anywhere else. Gothenburg and Malmö are both beautiful cities, but 1) I don't really like Gothenburg: I actually have a theory that in Sweden you're either "westside" or "eastside", it's Gothenburg or Stockholm, you can't love them both hahaha! Also 2) this is going to sound really bad because I know Malmö is great in so many ways... but with all the problems in Malmö at the moment, I'm not sure they should host. I mean, the city which hosts the Eurovision is representing the country and its people - Malmö is having way too much issues with its own citizens right now to commit to such a big event. So here's to Stockholm and Friends Arena in 2013! :D

When it comes to the interval acts, all I know is that I agree - Sweden should absolutely do something that shows Europe our culture and the swedish heritage. Obviously one can ask themselves why the transformed, more open and multicultural swedish culture isn't "good enough" to showcase, but whatever... Anyway, point is - what is traditionally swedish these days? I mean, ever since it became taboo to be too patriotic in this country, the only tradition that is intact in its incredible swedish-ness to me is Midsummer (which also is the only time I've ever seen any one wear swedish national costumes.) And we can't have drunk people singing smågrodorna and jumping around a phallus on stage, even if its such a big part of our culture. Umm.. so then what? Someone standing on stage eating falukorv?? Haha obviously I have a poor imagination, but I really can't come up with anything. Hopefully SVT will come up with something that will makes us all proud even if it seems impossible to me to imagine what that would be.

Those were my two cents :)

Hi guys, I'm back! I just had to say something else on the topic of the interval act; as I said I would like something that really showcases swedish culture and yes I'd like it to be traditional... But I was cruising youtube and saw the video for the song "dansa pausa". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sk9MSeE1l80&feature=branded

And this video, together with the african men performing and the song that has african rhythms but is sung entirely in swedish, to me is almost a perfect description of swedish culture today. I really, really love this and I'm not saying that SVT should hire these guys to perform on the spot, but maybe it's something like this that should represent us? Because why not?

What I love about sweden has always been the way it truly embraces every culture in the world. Obviously this exact thing has become a hot political issue and I'm not going to lie and say that I don't see where SD is coming from with all of this - as an immigrant myself even I sometimes think that god damn it those effing immigrants... And since I'm born and raised in Sweden (much like our darling Loreen :D) a huge part of my identity is swedish so I've always seen myself as such, and I think this is true to all 2nd and 3rd generation immigrants - we count ourselves as swedish, even if we still carry our "other" culture with us. My point is that, to an increasing amount of swedes, this video is what swedish culture is, a mix of everything - black men dressing according to swedish fashion, singing to rhythms from their first culture in the language of their second one. I'm starting to think that maybe this is what I want Europe to know about us.

LOL, and as usual you are totally pessimistic :)
Nevertheless, I agree on many things... Wouldn't stand Måns Zelmerlöw hosting. I also think Europe indeed wants to see something SWEDISH. We have seen a lot of postcards and interval acts with a southern touch lately. It's time for something more northern imo...
For hosts i actually like Ana Gina and Sarah Dawn Finer. Let's for once have some genuinely funny people as hosts.

As far as I know Victoria Silvstedt has a MENA IQ, and comparing a self-made woman who actually made a name of herself with two dumbed-down bloggers, I have to say is probably based on some pre-idea about these people. Why I use the term "Jante"? Because in Sweden it really sticks in people's eyes with these blonde bombshells who are outspoken and a bit controversial, it's not the current norm to be like that.

I think most hosts have been bad, but I was referring to SVT in general though (because I guess they''ll not surprise us and pick some of their own people?). I mean for instance when we hosted this in 2000 we hade the utterly boring Kattis Ahlström (not ugly perhaps.. but zero personality) and the both ugly and boring Anders Lundin. I mean if THESE are the best SVT could pick, then we have a problem!

I don't always agree with the choices SVT makes. I agree with you on several points, especially about the PC thing and not having a genuine Swedish interval act. I completely agree. Atleast we agree on this one! And yes indeed it would be typically SVT and although it fit THEIR political agenda, it will just leave the European viewers either bored or ad question-marks. I hope they realize that this is an opportunity to showcase Sweden to Europe, they don't want our PC cr*p so I hope they won't go down that route, it'll just look ridiculous.

I meant in terms of views on society, politics etc. But I don't know you so I only refer to some posts I read.
