Re: ESTONIA 2013
I think there have been some misunderstandings from both sides.
You think that the new Koit Toome song is generic, and I totally agree. It is. It's totally forgettable as I've listened it to five times already and remember nothing from. But this leads me to another point - it's listenable. It doesn't have any gimmicky elements that I hate in current pop music, e.g. pseudo-dubstep breakdown, horrible autotuning, repeating of a single word, etc. It's well produced and the lyrics, while you don't understand them, are also quite decent. And I think it's an okay pop song. It's not a great song by any means, but it's very far from being a disaster.
As for Rändajad, it's a typical Lõhmus' song. I'm sad to tell you this but it's 100% written by Lõhmus himself and Urban Symphony was just a group he but together for Eesti Laul. As far as I know/remember, the demo version submitted to Eesti Laul was a bit different and credited only Sandra Nurmsalu as the performer. And Sandra was just a girl who caught Lõhmus' attention in a singing competition. Lõhmus has never been an extraordinary songwriter, he has had his bright moments and a lot of misfires, but to call him useless is just too harsh.
