I hope Germany will win this year. They deserve it. Berlin 2011!

Lena performing live at "Wetten Dass" around 2 weeks ago, finally in a video that has an acceptable audio quality. This was her first live performance of the song after the national final.

A nice performance, but with plenty of room for improvement. The beginning is messed up, and some of the parts that she improvised spontaneously were not as good as the studio version. And she should work on a different way of moving during the song. While I found it to be very cute, most people will probably see it differently. In Oslo the band will be gone anyway, so there won't be that much distraction from herself (horrible camera.. one third of the time we see one of the instrument players or background singers). If they can improve these aspects, it's gonna be great in Oslo.

I really like the German entry this year. It's a great, catchy song, even in the ballad version and Lena is doing great. I think we don't need to worry about her live performance, her way of dancing is something that makes her special and I am sure she will learn to look at the camera ;)

Lena before the casting. Seems to be some kind of school concert.

Best instrumental cover:

This is just beautiful  And much more complex than most of the other covers who just play the melody and maybe 1 or 2 bass chords, but nothing else.

Satellite has millions of viewers on YouTube. I like the song but should say that i'm surprised because of this big success.

Looks like the song will be released internationally after all. At least in some markets. It's listed under upcoming release on this Swedish site for example:

By the way, it's really a miracle that the Germans picked the right song and the right artist this year. When they had the chance to choose during the last few years, they always failed.

Just look what they did NOT choose in 2007: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tWHndPN9kA
I still love this song, it wipes the floor with most of the 2010 ballads :( Instead, the Germans chose a kind of music nobody listens to (Cicero's swing song..) just because it's so much more "sophisticated". I remember that I went berserk on that night...

I have to agree there, Monrose had a stunning ballad back in 2007 :D

About "Satellite", well i like it (even though it's not in my top 10), but i don't think it is THAT outstanding. I believe it will score top 10, but we'll see about winning.

Although i would love to have ESC in Germany :D That would've been an amazing show, maybe the best so far, i'm pretty sure

'nobody listens to' ? lol Maybe it's not esc's fans genere but such a music is popular ;) Vide Michael Buble or Matt Dusk etc. I can't imagine ESC07 without Cicero. And yest, it's so much more sophisticated and makes that eurovision is a land of variety.

Monrose aren't bad but next typical pop ballad? booooring.

Hi Teroh.
I think, you are right. Monrose was great and i couldn´t understand the result. But, it was a problem about the Hamburg scene. Cicero is from Hamburg and so it was normal, that he won the game.
But Monrose was much better.

Re: DEUTSCHLAND - Germany 2010 - Lena Meyer-Landrut - Satellite

Please tell me that the guys who will be responsible for the sound and mixing in Oslo actually know how to do their job.

Look what they did to Lena's performance last night here in Germany: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvxvXZj3 ... re=channel especially the intro --> oh my god... Someone accidentally clicked twice on the MP3 containing the song

And once again Lena's mic was not loud enough. But she sang pretty well, especially when you consider she was a bit ill.

Seriously? It is every bit as blah and forgettable as what Germany picked the following year. I only watched in hope that the travelator would transport the singer right off the little black stage. I don't care much for swing or big band music, either, but Cicero wiped the floor with Monrose.

This year is quirky, which is promising, but judging from the last couple of appearances, it appears that Lena is just product and not at all in charge of what is going on. She needs to tell the various producers to back off and just do her own thing.
