that is so irritating and annoying to listen to. she should either sing appropriate english or sing in german

Re: DEUTSCHLAND - Germany 2010 - Lena Meyer-Landrut - Satellite

and another thing, as a musician myself here in the united states, and working with several small, local producers here, i like to think i have a thorough knowledge of music. why does she never sing louder or softer? its always the same noise level. she never sings any high impressive notes, in fact she talks half the time, and that accent just makes me squint. she needs some singing lessons. let us not forget this is a vocal competition... vocalists should win when they are deserving, and vocally speaking she isnt top 20

Re: DEUTSCHLAND - Germany 2010 - Lena Meyer-Landrut - Satellite

And you really needed 3 posts, each of them with your XXL signature, to tell us this?

She's got her accent from her English teacher. It's influenced by East London stuff, somewhere around there... an Englishman told me that there was a famous fish market in London where everyone talks like Lena, lol.

And if you think she can't sing watch this video: http://www.unser-star-fuer-oslo.de/vide ... ntId=62452 (song starts at 3:00)
The thing is that this mixture of singing and speaking is her style.. she always did that during the national qualification, at least in the songs that allowed for it. And Satellite definitely allows for it, it even demands it, at least in the verses.

Oh, and this is not a vocal competition. If it were, Lordi would not have won in 2006 by shouting all the time (don't get me wrong, I like Lordi and I loved their song, but they definitely did not sing)

i totally agree. lordi was a joke. i know i have romanian origins, but tornero that year should have won hands down. that was a highway robbery finland winning that year. that was so stupid.
i dont know about her accent but it is very irritating.

Finland deserved the win in 2006. Their song was great, their show wiped the floor with all the other competitors. Plus, Finland had never won before. It was about time.

Lol, the ESC is not trying to please the US though, otherwise we would all send country & RnB . (btw. Tornero SUCKED!!!)

And my partner is a musician, vocal coach & musical performer himself so he has a good understanding of music as well. That doesn't make his taste better, he just looks at music from a different perspective.

But this topic is to discuss the german entry so let's get back to that.

Whoever told you this is a moron. I know that there's only American Idol in the US, but that doesn't mean that any other music competition show can be compared with it.
Just take a look at the name: "Eurovision Song Contest" / "Grand Prix de la Chanson"
It is NOT called "Eurovision Singing Contest".

If you say "song = singing", you basically say that all the great instrumental songs that exist in our world are actually not songs and there not music. Sorry, your argumentation has too many flaws. ;)
Believe it or not, but in 1995 a song that had almost no vocals (only around 20 words in 3 minutes) won the contest. And it deserved it because it was a great piece of music.

It's surprising that it's still so low in Switzerland. It's been in the Top 3 of the Swiss iTunes charts for ages.

Nice!! Regardless of the results of that voting, it's remarkable that a Turkish radio station included the song in their voting. I hope for 10 points from Turkey (12 are for Azerbaidjan as every year  )

I don't understand why Universal hasn't yet made this available outside German speaking countries. Not even for digital download, which can't be so difficult.

I hope too. ;)
I'm sure Germany will get high points from public voting but i'm not sure about our jury. Their choices were horrible last year.

Because of diaspora votes, maybe 10 points can go to Armenia but i hope we give Germany at least 8 points although Lena deserves much more. ;)

Isn't this against the rules? Not sure about that, but it's common practice to release contest songs internationally only after the ESC.

Oh I love you Matt!! Finally someone who has the same opinion as me about Tornero!
Btw Sweden and Carola deserved to win that year but whatever. It's off topic.

As for Germany! I would be totally fine if Germany wins this year! The song is amazing! And I love this accent! :D

Nope, there's no such rule so they can release it internationally before ESC.
Yeah, usually ESC singles are released internationally after Eurovision.
