hahahaha, true Gypsy, I'm really jealous how you live in such unreality, I'd like to live in one as well, real Gypsyies here don't have bread to eat, and steal wallets in public transport..that is REAL GYPSY life my friend! ;)

Sadly, that is only too true mrm, mate. However, there's no harm in fantasizing and taking to the romantic side of things.

Billie Holiday was one the most amazing singers that ever existed (not a gypsy, of course, but that doesn't matter) and the quality of her voice will haunt all those who were fortunate enough to have listened to her.

I seem to remember, many years ago, in the 1920s I think it was, during an American/Portuguese cultural and racial intercourse, of sharing a stage with her, as very young ladies. And although my mind has come to be a litle nebulous and confused of lately, that was an experience I could never forget. She was a sad, brooding, troubled creature and all that came out in her voice as a supreme from of art. I was..., well, what I am, only better. Those who watched us and listened to us, were known to tell for ever that that had been the most important moment of their lifes.

So you see, mrm mate, what can your 12 year folk club dancing be, compared with this? You have yet many many things to learn my friend, before you become a wise, scholarly and sapient person like me xacademic

You sung with Billie Holiday!? Oh my, what a thrill that must have been. I've idolised her greatly since the 1920's and actually consider her one of my greatest inspirations both in the medium of dance and of course, song. Until Billie everyone either sung opera like Mrm's friend or they would sing like the great Florrie Forde. Speaking of whom, I shared many a stage of the old west end music halls with Florrie back in the late 1890's. These moments started my love of dance and song.

The "Suus" she took to Baku wasn't jazz. The song more than likely started life as a jazz piece though. Rona considers herself an experimental jazz singer and there are a few really weird, quite hard to get into performances of hers on youtube where she's singing what I believe to be Albanian folk songs (I might be wrong) in an experimental jazz style.

This video here is Rona performing "Suus" in english with the jazz arrangement and she's actually.. scatting:lol:

Ahh now I understand

Well, I sort of lost count because there was a time people were always asking me that and I was afraid they thought I was giving them my telephone number, so I started lying, then I stopped bothering and sort of lost track, but I must be around 110, mustn't I?

I live in the algarve. It must be the sun and the ocean, they really work wonders for you!

(I'd check Rainywoods though and ask him about the climate in England because he seems to be even older than me.)

I love British climate actually, I love rain, fog, I also love snow, sun is not my thing! :) just an idea that next season here is summer gives me nightmare, especially cause summers become more dry and warm here every year! :(

Good night!

Well I could tell Mrm the secrets to my eternal youth and just how i've managed to live this long but the secret involves a certain lady and gentleman who I don't think Mrm likes very much. But I will tell him this much...

Music is my cream BEAUTY CWEAM BEAUTY CWEAM

And with that I wish you all a good night and apologies to fans of the Danish song who enter this topic in the morning. There are some brilliant discussions about the art of dance and song to be read though.

I really think that Denmark can win this year there are so many euro popsongs who dosn't stand out from each other...the mayority dosnt like plain rock or dubstep .... Dance was so much last year pop/rock entries are nothing special/catchy this year ... The trash/ethno thing isn't something everyone understand and they have no glitter on stage. So not funny. Denmark has the strongest and catchies ethnopopsong this year this leaves Denmark Norway and the Nederlands back. I the gambles will help us out in the end

When I see the pictures from the rehearsal I'm not sure she is gonna win. The stage design from the Danish final was out of this world - Very classy and elegant. The stage was also smaller and more fitting to the song. Am I too pessimistic?

She absolutely nailed the performance in Denmark and it would be hard to top that, I'm afraid. But god knows!

I'm not impressed.... she sounded amazing at Dansk Melodi Grand Prix. I don't feel the passion and the emotion like I did at the national final. I'm really disappointed :(

A bit bias, don't you think? And besides..... 90% of the songs this year are just ballads. I'm sorry, but after watching Emmelie's second rehearsal.... I think there will be only teardrops coming from her :(

Great rehearsal.. and flute manxheat

Even though this isn't in my top 10, at least it's pleasant and wouldn't be a winner that annoys me in any way.
