Maybe Denmark has an image of being somewhat conservative when it comes to the ESC. The entries in recent years were all decent and solid, but no extravaganzas or experimental compared to what other countries had offered. That makes it harder to develop some kind of hype. Still I like the Danish entries and the way they concentrate on the music and not on some weird stage show or cheap gimmicks. And they proved they don't need it, they did pretty well (I insist that Soluna was severely underscored! ;))

I completely agree (especially Soluna) and I suppose thats why Denmark doesn't get the attention they deserve. I however don't agree with the experimental part at all because those countries (unless your overhyped countries like Sweden or Norway) always get dismissed and not praised.

Your right Denmark doesn't need any of that but if would be nice if they did get credit for being consistantly good and not just aknowledged when all other favorites have underperformed to expecatations. Also for not falling into the extravaganza camp trap that most countries do when you choose an entry. Only Teardrops could have easily fallen into that catagory in the hands of another country.

I Can see your part about the conservative choise of wining songs we have no uptempos or slow ballards every song are middel tempo songs.

if you watch our NF we have uptempo songs but they dont win.

In Norway they have 3 simifinals and Sweden has 5 threfore there are a lot of discussion about the songs before a final... In Denmark we only know the songs 4 days before the final. I Think thats why there isnt so much "attention" In the danish treat.
I dont think people In here In general like our songs every year and Think we are doing well every year because we dont. we have been in the final the last 5 years and within that 2 times In top 10

If you take a look at Swedens history In esc you Will see why their is so much High expectation for the swedish entry.

Yes its true conservative does not always bring the most passion but in my opinion the size of the national contest should not dictate how people treat the eventual entry. This year everyone was trashing the quality of MF and MGP Norway but after the final song was choosen the hype for said entry suddenly skyrocket no matter what it was (2010/2012 Sweden).

I think there is a difference between high expectations and the actual reality. Most of the time even when expectations are not matched the hype still explodes (maybe their in denial I don't know). Thats why Sweden (who made a very conservative choice this year) always does well in the betting no matter what they send and Denmark always needs its best because people won't prop them.

I got into your following your final the last two years and I must admit that I find the overall quality to be higher than that of Norway or Sweden (less room for crap lol). Not every song is a favorite of mine but they all stand out in one way or another and there is much more vararity.

Well it is a matter of taste...... for me this year our NF was crap.... every song sound alike the only song for me that stand out was the winner. But I know that this has to do with my age... I was a teenager in the 80' and maybe therefore all this new dance music is not my kind.... (to me it sound all like the same)

For me the Melodifestivalen has a more variated final with pop, rock, dance music..... maybe not all music that I like but good entertainment for people in every age. I know many here in Copenhagen (we can watch Swedish TV) who see Melodifestivalen but not ESC.

Quality is a matter of personal taste. Last year I think that Denmark and Norway had a equal final and Loreen was just miles ahead of anything else in standing out. This year I think Sweden didn't had a song that I liked. where as Norway's winner has blown me away (finally synthpop in ESC) and I don't think that the danish winner is bad either.

Im impressed with the shows from all 3 countries all that money we put in to it...... and it is well spend... the best entertainment show for the hole family

That's exactly the contrary opionion to most of the people. Denmark's NF's are usually full of bland songs, that sound all alike. This year all the songs were pretty much the same.

I agree with you..... in Sweden Christer Bjørkman (the director of Melodifestivalen) has said that Sweden has to renew it self regarding the entries, before that all songs sounded like ABBA.... (well I think that)

So sweden dumpt " In a moment like this" i 2008 guess who came 4th with that in 2009..... We in Denmark still wants the mid-tempo songs DR (the broadcaster) has to pick up 10 more different songs out of those 600 to 800 songs the receive every year.

This year I will admit the songs were more similar to one another but I don't think thats always true from what I have checked out on youtube. I think the main reason for the sameness this year was in response to Soluna's flop. They think its time to step out of the box and I welcome that.

I personally don't think this year was terrible at all and I think the highs were far higher and the lows not as low as others. But its all personal opinion.

The funny thing is that the presenters (3 hot girls this year) all said Denmark has to do it different this year... this year we want to win... But after we heard all 10 entries it was like .... WTF what is so different this year everything sound the same.

When I voted I didn't think can this song win ESC I voted for this song because it was different to me.... Had we had a strong song like Margate this year or Loreen last year I would have voted for them because they are so much different to what you hear in the danish final...

I think Only Teardrops is far more memorable and worthy of winning than Feed You My Love (which I think while great is massively overrated by some). I think in 5/10 years future lookback on a OT victory would be a lot kinder than a FYML one. I also think Euphoria which was fantastic and deserved to win was really overrated. I mean look at all the people who now go around pretty much claiming Loreen invented dance music and the structure of it. But thats all just my opinion.

I also feel like this is a certain winner :D The song is #1 in my top 10 since I first heard it. It would be a very well deserved victory :D

Re: DENMARK 2013

Good song from Denmark this year (I hated last year's entry)! It's in my top 10 for sure. Still, it's missing that special something that would make be vote for it. So I'll give it 10 points. (I only give 12 points to songs I'd vote for... And I'm a snob! My 12's are rare.)
