we came 7th in the semifinal. greece was 4th. bulgaria and malta surprised me with no points. i thought that malta was going to give us at least 2-3 pts. i mean they ve sent a similar song to the contest. oh well, maybe next year Ivi will try again, hopefully?!

If we had the diaspora and neighbors of Serbia, Turkey & Albania, with a song like the one we had, we would be in top 3 for sure... But we are little Cyprus, who would vote for us? I'm happy that Sweden gave us 12, and Iceland 8. The starting position wasn't the best, btw.

Sweden loves "La la love". I'm happy that we gave Cyprus our 12 points! Too bad that Cyprus didn't do so well :( i loved that song...

a member here , Lenalite , came to this conclusion

2009: Romania - 22nd
2010: Romania - 19th / Germany - 22nd - Won
2011: Romania - 17th / Azerbaijan - 19th - Won
2012: Romania - 14th / Sweden - 17th - Won

so, with sweden giving us 12pts, they will host the next esc, and if Ivi or someone as great as her, manages to pass to the final and get 14, we might have a Nicosia 2014!! :p

Congrats for the good show. Honestly, I expected Europe to give Cyprus much more credit. It'll be a hit anyway.
Strange that Italy didn't give you more points with all the advertisement you got from one of our broadcasters. He was definitely in love with Ivi.

There are no many Cypriots living in Italy, on the other hand, it's full of Albanians, that's why!

I wanna see the split results of televoting & juries! I'm sure the juries placed us low because the final was full of ballads, I mean would they vote for us, Romania or Greece, when they have Albania, Azerbaijan, Estonia & Spain with ballads? I think next year we have to send a ballad like that if we want to do well? Then the contest will be full of ballads instead... I don't think I'll be a fanatic follower of ESC next year, it depends on who will represent us and with what song...

I agree. The juries must have placed you guys very low this year. I was quite shocked that Cyprus weren't getting any points. Even though i'm happy that Sweden won, i would have been much happier if Cyprus comed higher :(

These are my feelings too! My favorite won ESC, but I wanted my country to finish higher! :)

You know I never really liked this song but if it was another country's song, it would've finished in top 5 I'm sure.
Some countries are too underrated in ESC.

i agree. even greece that had a better position, more diaspora (greek AND cypriot coz we always vote for them) and more neighbours and we managed to "kick their ass". the little twit on mesimeriani meleti will have a fit!!! LOL! xrofl3xrofl3xrofl3xrofl3xrofl3xrofl3

Umm I'm sorry, 1 point ahead is not kicking anyone's ass. Why so much hostility anyway? Quite juvenile if you ask me. And by the way, I don't think you would call Greece's position any better other than it being later. It was the first song in a line of uptempo songs, including the winner.

Anyway, I'm really curious to see the split televoting/jury voting though. Cyprus should have been higher. I hope Ivi decides to give ESC another chance sometime in the future. I wonder how the Cypriot broadcaster will take this result. This was the first year in recent times they had a big ESC project.

Totally agree. Same applies to Spain, if somebody else sent Quedate Conmigo, it would have been top 3 for sure! And many other countries who suffer being out of a block of diaspora & neighbors!

cyprus deserved to be higher. mostly cos ivi is so sweet. but unfortuneately her voice was really strained. i think that was the biggest problem - than neighbour/diaspora voting.
anyway this will be a summer-hit in europe.

Her voice was great last night! I mean, even Rona Nishliu or Pastora Soler would not be able to deliver this song live perfectly and dancing all the time! These songs are not designed to show the live vocals of someone anyway. the problem was the neighbor/diaspora voting mainly, and the not so good starting position...
