Is this NF serious? I think I don't remember such an embarrassing line-up....

Bad songs, bad vocals.... so go with Shuma, at least you'll make the difference.

Re: BELARUS 2018

Oh my gosh. I didn't think i'd like that Gunesh song at first, but it kicks butt! It's so ridiculously over the top and she absolutely SLAYS it, all done whilst wearing a beige rain mac. I can't remember being on board for any of her previous attempts, but I certainly am for this one. I'm just bitter that only my left ear was allowed to enjoy that live performance.

Another ridiculous song I enjoyed too much is Adagio's "Ты i я" (You and Me)". I don't usually allow a song to contain this much ham but I find this charmingly insane. That tenor almost made me wet myself. Such key changexheat

Bless how Alen Hit is back. I had a soft spot for his bop from last year. His song this year isn't quite as enjoyable, but I think I still like it, and him. It's a catchy little number.

I'm guessing ALEKSEEV must be famous or something, as his audition was kind of cringe inducing. I'd struggle very much to see how he was the big favourite based on that performance. I think his song is actually nice but even I have a limit with accents. Get rid of that English and this would be an enjoyable entry, albeit not very daring. Very well produced though. Studio version is lush. Super gorgeous.

Two others I like but am not 100% on: Radiovolna's "Subway lines" has a recipe for disaster. Soulful vocals and Belarussian-English shouldn't go together, but this is actually quite sweet. Not close to being in love with it, but there's something about it I like. Shuma's "Хмаркi" is interesting, but it lost my attention about half way through which is a shame. I'd give it some more goes though.

I'd rank them in this order (the other five I don't like):

1. Gunesh - I Won't Cry
2. Adagio - Ты i я
3. Alen Hit - I Don't Care
4. ALEKSEEV - Forever (high up based on the studio version)
5. Radiovolna - Subway Line
6. Shuma - Хмаркi

So basically, Gunesh please Belarus or I will sue you. Thank you x

But I must say that I believe Belarus might have missed a trick here by not going for the delightful "I Song About You".

Re: BELARUS 2018

I think it's already decided to send Alekseev. First of all, he must improve his vocals and English. Secondly, I think song should be sung in Russian or Belorusian, then he will not have to work on his accent. They shouldn't change the entry, this one is completely fine, with good show it should look very impressive.

Again, I must note... so far I hate his vocals. I always struggled to watch his live performances. Lazarev was 100 times better by this criteria. And Alekseev fails to perform basic notes correctly. I have no idea how he participated in Voice with such vocal problems.

Re: BELARUS 2018

Alekseev's song reminds me strongly of another ESC-song from the past, but I can't figure out which one. xthink xgaah xthink xgaah

btw, I read on PrinzBlog, that he published the russian version of his song already in May 2017. Does this mean we have the potential to a new ESC-drama here? Gets elected, can't sing the song?
Or will it just be the return to an almost forgotten belussian tradition of changing the song after the NF anyway....

:az: 2013 "Hold me" :)

It does a smidgen actually, which is strange because wasn't that composed by Swedes? "Forever" feels very familiar melodically. I like contemporary music coming from eastern European countries much more than what the west brings at the moment. I can imagine Loboda singing something like "Forever". It's such high quality electropop. Ditch the English and I think i'll be 100% behind this song as an entry. I like it more with each listen.

These NFs are just getting worse lmao...it almost seems like anything in Estonia could do better than anything here...
Belarus had a fantastic entry in the song "Цiха" by Pauline. With a standard Belarusian revamp this really could have done well at the contest, and I'm honestly shocked it didn't make it through.

Honestly "Hold me" always sounded for me like typical cheesy 90's post-soviet song. That's why I put it last in my 2013 top-39 :) "Forever" while has something similar with "Hold me" in some moments still is totally different. It's more contemprorary.

"Hold me" is exactly the sort of High Quality that Eurovision is in desperate need of. We need more of such Gems.

I wasn't the biggest fan of "Hold Me" but I do have a soft spot for these types of songs. Maybe as I don't have to listen to them all the time (only at Eurovision) Somehow they are exotic to me, yet strangely comforting.

Yes and I was listening to them whole time being child because I lived with grandparents who adored such type of music. So I now have kind of immunity

"Hold me" is exactly the sort of High Quality

Oh please xrofl

I too (though I hated 2011 and 2013). And I liked recent :az: entries but some performers were too weak for those songs (I mean 2014, 2016 and 2017). For example I adore last year's song and staging but her live vocal performance just doesn't make it for me.

RainyWoods I think we found our Amber of 2018. xheat Gunesh is my favourite as well. You know what this means? Spamming the Belarus chat for the next month with gunesh related topics until she wins a landslide victory in the NF.

Woah, this is momentous. Our two minds rarely think exactly alike, but when they do....... incredible things happen. Amber Bondin winning the Maltese selection, taking every single 12 available. Kay of Kays Good Cooking becoming an internet superstar. Eteri Beriashvili becoming a forum fan favourite after our long and passionate campaign. Just a few of our achievements there. Gunesh is next in line for global stardom. Gunesh for Eurovision. We won't cry, as Gunesh is here with her unforgettable hot hit and beige jacket. Go Belarus!!!!
