Please - could some of you convince Alekseev it is NOT a good idea for him to sing this in english? Tell him that last year a song in portugese won. Alekseev needs to improve both his vocals and his stage presentation a lot in May. I am sure singing in his mother tounge would make this easier for him. And it suits the song!

I don't know why but I feel like he will try his chance with EBU and sing the old version in May.
This new version thing was just to calm down Belarussian contestants.

Is it just me who couldn't notice a difference between the supposed new version and the original? Or was the off key singing supposed to be the new melody? I listened to this song a fair few times in the studio version over the weeks and couldn't pick up any changes in the composition when watching it live. Am I missing something?

There are a few diferences, namely a toning down of some formerly lovely notes, which sounded kind of intentional, BUt there is a lot of off key as well. Ridiculous staging too, no sensitivity whatsoever towards the song being sung. Biggest car crash ever. What a shame xfacepalm

Nope you're not the only one. I've listened to both and I cannot tell the difference at all. Many have said how it's all completely new now but it's just exactly the same to me. However this all new version is apparently eligible and the old one Not?

Yeah AshleyWright, I think as i anixi points out, it's just the way Alekseev sings some of the notes. The piece of music i'm pretty sure is identical. I was confused when people were talking about this new version, and I was also confused when watching his performance last night as I was expecting it to sound different but couldn't pick up on any real noticeable changes. I was expecting changes in the composition.

It's a shame. I want to like this entry but it's having quite a tragic start. I hope they can turn this around somehow.

Decent song but such a bad performance :? I think I could sing better than that... 6 points but it has the potential for more if he works on the vocals.

THE GOOD:
-It's somewhat memorable.
-I like the late-70s-or-early-80s vibe that the song is going for.

THE BAD:
-The song does have some creepy undertones about it.
-His vocals are a bit young-sounding in parts.

THE VERDICT:
A decent effort by Belarus, but can the song get over its own lyrical tone? That remains to be seen and heard. Therefore, it's a coin toss whether or not it qualifies. I will say that last year's entry is miles better than this (again) decent effort. 7 points

Dear Lord what a bad performance. Nikita honey what was that, singing or squealing. And song is just a meh (at last for me it is)
And entire Belorussian selection was "Hallelujah" . It is really hard to say what was worst there, competitors or interval acts. My ears are bleeding even two days later

2 points for now

I didn't get the song at first listen, it's current and old fashioned at the same time. If somebody asked me : what kind of song are you thinking of when I say "eastern european countries" , it would have been this song, this kind of song/feeling

This is embarrassing. The song might be ok-ish, but the singer..... well, you just have to see and listen. A new song wouldn't change anything. I wonder why Belarus is doing so well in the odds with this. 0 points and right to my bottom.
