Because it's a small country... I'm not really sure how it's been made, but sources have reported it's something with the countries telephone companies having some deal...

It would be more difficult in bigger countries, but sure jury groups can always be bribed no doubt about it...

your sourses, your ideas. personally i'm sick with your conpiracy ideas. apparently Malta bought our voices too consistent with your mind since we give high points to them every year. Of, no wait we an agreeement. :D for 5 years. Seriosly I think you need to write scipts for James Bond films.
we always have great promo tour in Malta. we always attend the best tv programmes. and we are two small countries which try to support each other.

I never could have imagined this would come 2nd place when this song was first presented. It's merely just an ok, rather "old fashioned" song. Fair play, the performance was something really different. It's not bad but it's not amazing in any way. I'm pretty sure now that Azerbaijan could send someone passing wind into a tin can for 3 minutes and they'd still make top 10.

I think it's safe to say where Azarbaijan will be shopping for songs again next year..

I feel this from opinion >>Azerbaijan never should win or get higher top 5. right?<< Because no matter whatever Azerbaijan does, it is always same STORY.

Hey my dear Azeri friends,
Well I'm happy Israel gave you 12pt (I think for first time), I liked the song and the perfrmance and Farid is amazing, looking forward to hear from him! Congratz!
And, neighbours voting/political/diaspora, from all we had, I prefered to see you and Ukraine as someone who benefit from it than others who had bad songs and could do well due to political reasons :/

The song was nice, but the thing that gave it all this attention was the stage presentation!!!Very clever and surely this thing gave it the second place!Well done

I really don't see the appeal of this song, boring bland. Goes absolutely nowhere. :/

Thank goodness Denmark beat it into 2nd place.

No, you're no Belarus-Russia...

This is something completely different ;)

I would be a bit pissed though if I were Maltese and knew that the 12's were fixed every year... it's not fair to the Maltese voters.

That's why I'd like to see the split results.

I know quite a few people who loved Safura and Farid's songs + Azeri artists often visit Malta for their promo tours, so I know they both did well on televote and probably got our 12 from televoting alone. Even Ell/Nikki were well-received. It's only last year that I was surprised to see our 12 points going to Azerbaijan. So to be honest, I don't know xshrug maybe we do rank Azerbaijan highly on televoting as people indeed liked their past few entries.

Azeri bloc voting continues en masse. So happy this didn't win and that we aren't going back to Baku.

Stop complaining about diaspora and bought votes, the song had very big appealing (no matter not being a fan of it at all) and the performance was extremely strong, so it came 2nd because of these reasons mainly. I can't say I'm happy but I honestly expected it to score very high, I just didn't want it to win. As Terence said, Azerbaijan's entries are popular in Malta, I don't think any cheating happened this year at all. We also gave it 8 points and I expected this one to happen as well, the song received enough recognition from our media as the composer of the song is very well known here, and his songs (that are very similar to this entry btw) play in the radio every day, so it was just like another song from our radio for us, and I expected my fellow countrypeople to vote for it. 8 points came as expected.

So, Azerbaijan completed its collection with every single position of the top 5. I think now they can feel fulfilled so next year they won't buy something from abroad but send something that is 100% theirs? Just wishing...

Interesting that Azerbaijan actually got MORE points this year than when they won in 2011. This was a better entry, so it probably deserved it.
I wouldn't have personally put Azerbaijan 2nd (simply because I felt this year's final was incredibly strong), but I think it's a fair enough result.

^^Agree this was much better than 2011.

I don't think the success was related to block-voting or diaspora. It was one of the top-performances. I watched eurovision with a bunch of people who are not at all related to Azerbaijan or Eurovision ("ordinary relatives") - everybody was mezmerised by the song and performance.

Azerbaijan is always putting a great effort in their entries and performances - and it pays off well.
And as said before, I think 2011 was their weakest year - it was a weak year overall - that is what made them win back then ...
