This is topping the juries. This feels contemporary, artistic, original, has got enough mainstream appeal and the vocals will be great ( that vocal run near the bridge will be showstopping ). Those are all the criteria juries are asked to vote on.
His biggest competitors for the jury win will be Netherlands ( clean and radio friendly ) and maybe France, but I think he's going to leave a stronger impression to the juries than those.
The difficult part for Austria is persuading the televoters and overcome those 100-120 tele points that arent going to be enough for a win... A very impressive staging can help ( heard hes gonna have a boat and somehow create rain on stage? Sounds memorable enough ).
Austria will get way more than 100-120 televote points. JJ will get 210-220 from the televote i believe, and around 350 if other competitors to the juries like Netherlands, France or Montenegro doesn't bring their A game with the staging.

I think thats overconfident right now before we see the staging, Nemo managed to get 226 televote with a '' cooler '' song that was more accesible and a very memorable trick on stage ( a spinning platform ). Loreen also got 243 with Tattoo, also much cooler and catchier. Id say 100-160 is a more realistic expectation for JJ at this point, but as I said, the right staging can increase the televote appeal

I would like to come back on one thing : the fact that people says it's too much like Nemo and because of the fact it reminds of the previous winner, it wont win. Am i the only one here thinking it's a completely overrated statement ? In my opinion it will have absolutely 0 impact. People don't care if a potential song looks like the previous winner. If they like it they will vote for it no matter how the song is similar to the previous winning entry.

People outside the eurovision bubble doesn't overthink like the eurofan bubble mark my words. They are more simple and straight to the point on their analysis and criteria than us who analyse every detail of a live performance, staging. So having this criteria of "no sorry it's too much like the last winner" certainly won't be on 99% of average viewer's heads.

"Who The Hell Is Edgar?" was justified being talked about as a contender, even though it undeservedly came 15th in the end. Just 16 points in the public vote in the final is a joke.
I wasn't a WTHIE fan, but...I was shocked it only got 16 televote points. 16. It had massive fan support at the very least - why didn't that at least get them points on the night?

First in the running order some and the top 3 (especially the top 1) sucked up all the points.

That's what I think too. The average viewer will only decide by how much Wasted Love appeals to them, especially as it really isn't all that similar to The Code in the first place.

I guess with an entry like this, the staging is gonna be make it or break it in regards to the televote. It's more cinema than streaming, which can absolutely work at Eurovision though.
