Apparently 15 finalists will be announced after Nostalgia night. Not 18 as I previously stated.

I really liked how Elvana touched people's hands at the beginning of her performance. It's a great metaphor, like how many eurofans were finally waiting for her appearance xgiggle

In general, it kind of reminded me of Chanel. Her vocals at the selection weren't the best either. And then she became an icon. Will the same future await Elvana? I remember how everyone was spitting and calling Chanel a bad version of Foureira.

My preferences remain unchanged. I'm crossing my fingers and rooting for Orgeza hred

Before the live performances, it was impossible for me to say and decide which one is my favourite between Zjerm and Karnaval but after seeing both live performances, Zjerm is the clear standout for me. Their live performance can still be massively improved but in my opinon it's way more impactful live than Karnaval. Elvana performance felt a bit flat unfortunately.

Elvana is just not my kind of thing. Her performance was okay, but I don't get warm with her song, it is just middle of the road. To me, my first choice would be Shkodra Elektronike – Zjerm. This is outstandinghgreenhblue

FiK and Sanremo are two NFs that I asked a point of not watching, but I've somehow come across shkodra elektronike's zjerm and have become absolutely captivated

I don't get the hype about Elvanas song. Very middle of the road, nothing that stands out, not even the uneasy walk on the back of her dancers and the falling in their arms. Seems so rehearsed and clumsy.
I still need to listen through the entirety of the songs cuz I didn't have that much time recently (I even missed both semis for the first time in years), but from what I listened to so far, I like Gresa Gjocera and Ardit Çuni (though vocally he has still to improve, but I like the ethnic elements).

It's a shame Karneval is so much worse than Me Tana. I still think Albania would qualify with it, but it wouldn't do much better than 15th place in the GF.

Zjerm is much more interesting. Probably won't win though.

OMG I am obsessed with Shkodra Elektronikes performance. Their singer gives Nina Sublatti-fiercness. Please do the right thing, FiK jury and send this song!

Tumblr, mostly.
The best choice probably is Zjerm, but i'm always a bit cautious with my faves. The live was serviceable and is hopefully good enough to win FiK, but the performance itself is still a work in progress.

What I'm worried about the most is little breathing room there is for the vocals. Literally. Beatrice has to gasp for air during the entire song and is out of breath by the end of it. It does not make for a great first impression if you haven't heard / imprinted on the studio version ahead of FiK.

If they win and make tweaks, I hope they add in additional vocal layers (backings) so Beatrice doesn't have to carry everything by herself.

(I'm being strict, but like... understand that I don't just want Shkodra to win. I want them to win FiK and then also get a very high result in Basel. It can be done. But they're still far away from that milestone.)

and if Shkodra don't win, I would be VERY pleased with these two ladies:

or with Mal, Erma, Ardit, Elvana, etc. Albania have options. Pity that there's only one option that allows them to place higher than their usual 19th-23rd finish.

I genuinely don't see how people can like Zjerm. I tried listening to it a few times, both the studio version before and now the live version and I can't see anything good in it. The vocals are just bad. I tried showing the live performance to a friend of mine who's a professional vocal coach - after a minute or so he told me to turn it off, because it was making his ears hurt. It's genuinely one of those songs I'd change the radio station if it was playing. Can someone explain what's so good about that song that makes people supposedly so obsessed with it?

Did we watched the same performance ? Because i found the vocals totally fine, not perfect and with some imperfections of course, but to say it was "just bad" seems really exaggerated (in my opinion). In my opinion, Zjerm is a really well crafted musical piece, with a well balanced instrumentation. The balance between traditionnal and electronic sounds is really well thought and should be logically rewarded on a contest like FIK.

It manages to blend folk elements in a pop song with a current sound in a sophisticated way without it feeling like a gag or a gimmick. It's both musically interesting and very catchy with a memorable hook and melody + it has great lyrics.
+ It shows a fresh angle to the usual national sound of Albania that we're used to in Eurovision.

Not sure what your friend's problem with the vocals was as they are objectively perfectly clear and lovely - hardly anything out of the box in that department at least.

The woman was flawless the man sounded quite bad.

Now the person you showed, it wasn't the honest vocal coach was it?

It's not the kind of thing that would be on a radio station, the unorthodox nature is part of the appeal to me personally but I cannot speak for others.

Thanks for all the replies. Don't misunderstand me, I'm very open minded when it comes to Eurovision entries. Everybody can have their own opinion about an entry. My only intention was to simply ask what elements of Zjerm in particular people find so good. For example, among the FiK entries this year I really like Mihallaq Andrea's "Porositë e babait", it gives me a really nice nostalgic feel. For me, when I listen to a song that is in my opinion good, I immediately feel something. It's a peculiar feeling, something like a shiver and I instantly know I'm listening to something I'm going to like. When I listen to Zjerm I genuinely don't feel anything.

As for the friend I mentioned, I can't say why he reacted like that. He doesn't usually follow eurovision, but he knows that I do, so when we meet I often show him some entries that stand out to me personally. I'm just bringing up his opinion, because he knows much more about singing and vocals than I do.
