I have to admit that I liked the postcards in our national final "Unser Song für Malmö".
They were refreshing and I loved how they fitted to the character and music of each artist :)

Hey, there's nothing at all wrong with rap as long as it's Swedish! :D

The only European country which is able to make somewhat trustworthy rap music is France, the rest just comes across as borderline ridiculous or directly laughable... even the UK (a native English speaking country which is closer to the US in many ways) aren't able to either.

Both of you have clearly never heard of Caparezza. ;)

If there's anything that should have never left the USA musically it's rapping...

USA will remain the only country that imo produces credible good Hip-Hop music (and no I don't mean stuff like Flo Rida or Pittbull )

Nope sorry, I simply cannot agree with that notion. American rappers like Eminem, Snoop, 50 Cent, etc. have such boring lyrics and generic beats that I simply cannot be bothered with them in any way. Seriously, how many variations of "dat ass" do they have to sing before coming up with something new?

Nope, I'm sticking with our homegrown rapper/singers for the foreseeable future.

I can only agree with this. Spanish rap, Italian rap, Russian, Serbian, Ukrainian, Swedish, Irish, German (especially) is all seemingly better than the nonsense that comes out of the states and the UK. Love it all.

Taste differs... 50 Cent and Snoop? Well if those are the names you think of, I can totally agree with you. 50 was kinda cool initially but is a total bore and Snoop was always a sort of joke.

No I mean like 90's hip-hop, and some the early 00's one... nowadays Kanye and Macklemore are bringing it pretty good.

Thing is, rap will never be "homegrown Swedish" as it's always was and always will be a desperate American wannabe thing... that's why it comes across as slightly pathetic when Swedish acts try to act all Harlem and ghetto on us... plz!

Ugh sorry, I absolutely cannot stand Kanye's music. Also he seems like a complete tool when he's not singing too.

Well if you put it that way no current Swedish popular music is homegrown. ;) Besides, the thing is that the good Swedish rappers like Timbuktu and Movits! don't go that way by trying to act all "ghetto" as you put it, they've just turned it into their own thing and that's what I like. Just like how the good Swedish hip hop (thankfully) sounds different from its American counterpart.

Kanye is a complete jerk for sure, but separate his persona from the music though... and btw Timbuktu is a pretty pathetic person too, but that's another thing... bottom-line if we would dislike artists based on their personalities, we wouldn't really like most of them.

You mentioned Petter right? He started out rapping like "oh I'm from the streets from Södermalm" ... it was all kinda tragic. Perhaps in the later years Swedish hip-hop have become a bit more serious, but if you were around when the Swedish hip-hop trend really started and was big in the late 90's and early 00's it was just laughable to say the least.

Ah okay, now I understand what you mean. Yes Petter in his early days was quite laughable, but I would say that in later years his music style has become a bit more grown up with the lyrics actually getting some kind of meaning behind them lately, instead him just yelling out "Så Klart!" every 5th second or so. Probably as a result of he himself also growing up and becoming more mature.

And I think it's the same for the rest of the Swedish hip-hop scene. It started out like a bit of tame copy of the Americans, but as the years went by it started to develop it's own little sounds and twists.

I think they realized themselves how ridiculous it all sounded in the Swedish Hip-Hop wave of late 90's/early 00's, so they just had to change really. I was pretty young so it was "ok" for me to like it back then, but in hindsight the difference between Petter, Ken, Feven etc. and Markoolio wasn't that big really... the only difference was that the latter didn't take himself serious, while the others did (which is why it makes me cringe now).

Remember, it's not as if these people started out very young or something.

You have to check up Feven's Grammy speech on YT, it's one of the most ridiculous moments of Swedish music...

Well Petter started out at 22, which is relatively young. Some people may not think so, but I'm of the opinion that the majority of people in their teens to late 20s are complete and utter morons. And I happen to be one of 'em, so yeah...

Oh I've seen it. Well not exactly seen it consdering that my hand was covering my face throughout the whole thing, but you get the idea.

Well, everything is relative. It seems nowadays you're "old" when you start in your 20's

Well, it's more embarrassing to listen to than seeing it though.

Well by general surrounding area I did mean the Skåne region (or at least the southernmost parts). Ale stenar and other such landmarks would probably work well on tv.

If so then they should show whole Sweden. After all Loreen won for SWEDEN not Skåne. This is the excuse SVT gave to Stockholm. Why should Stockholm host it? Loreen won for Sweden and not only for Stockholm. SVT should show something from whole Sweden, not only Skåne who rather wants to belong Denmark rather than Sweden anyway.

Well I just said the Skåne area since travelling around Sweden to shoot those short postcard videos could create a lot of logistical problems for the artists and the crew with rehearsals and all that. Just shooting some stuff in the southern parts would just be simpler with the time constraints is what I'm saying.

I agree, but if the point is to add the acts to the postcards then just as TheLordMarbury points out it could be a bit complicated (not impossible though).

As for Skåne rather belonging to Denmark? Well, I'm a Scandian and I would... but not sure if all from Skåne agrees though

Do the artists needs to be in the postcards?? Also there are alot of programmes and photoshop that could be used to make the artist be in Gothenburg even if she/he never been there.

BTW, it will take alot of time to travelling in Skåne too. Do they have enough with time for that?

The current idea is that the artists will be in the postcards...

Anyways this won't happen, because they already decided to make the postcards in the artists own homelands.
