We let them tell us what to do
Why why why
We live to die for worthy things
Oh ya ya ya

We promised we would never lose our pride
Your word's worth nothing if you lie
We're standing tall and looking up, our Father would be proud
And I'm happy to be working my own ground

We'll be the last ones breathing here

Hey, sing your heart out boy
For all the people great and small
Oh, when all else is lost
The future still remains our own

We're taught that we were born to lose
But why why why
Don't waste your breath, it's time to choose
Oh ya ya ya

We promised we would never lose our pride
Your word's worth nothing if you lie
We're standing tall and looking up, our Father would be proud
And I'm happy to be working my own ground

I said
Hey, sing your heart out boy
For all the people great and small
Oh, when all else is lost
The future still remains our own

I hope

We let them tell us what to do
Why why why
We live to die for worthy things
Oh ya ya ya

No matter what they try, tearing up our lives
I know we will always rise

I said
Hey, sing your heart out boy
For all the people great and small
Oh, when all else is lost
The future still remains our own

I hope

The future still remains our own

I hope

I wish I could be more ecstatic about the song, but it's rather basic unfortunately, even though I love his voice. But I am not certain if he will make it far with this song ... :( Or do I need more attempts to like the song ...?

Give it some two or three other listens and turn into a superfan like Mrm and me

I kinda agree with you. The song isn´t bad at all, but it´s not on the same level as "Kuula". Maybe I should wait for the live performance, he´s terrific live. xshrug

I listened to "Aovalguses". I was too curious. What am I saying? Ott Opland can't win the Eesti Laul 2022 xcoffee ... he can win the ESC 2022!x12pointsxclap

Mauve, when you say that Ott is "basic" I totally agree with you but... isn't that how real music should be? We often observe songs with many nuances, very daring, technically complex and, at times, at "fireworks" that distract from the vocal test, from the sound and from the text. When a singer manages to be "basic" and at the same time to excite, he is a winning singer. Being "basic" is difficult. There is no room for mistakes!

Listening "Aovalguses" I felt a kind of pain inside me xgaah ... the song and the voice of the Estonian singer reminded me of something... then the light bulb went on! I was clear on what Ott was inspired by! xshock1: Unfortunately, however, I wanted to leave room for my doubts and, canceling the old possibility, I did other research but... nothing! xwall I got angry and said to myself "Trust the first idea!" xangry and I went to listen to a song to be sure. I understood right away! Ott Lepland and his song, with the necessary differences, are very reminiscent of the romantic works of Bryan Adams!!!xfaint

Personally, I find "Aovalguses" a very powerful song, the only song that could lead the ESC public to stop dancing, fall silent and be carried away by emotions (as would have happened with Diodato's "Fai Rumore" xcry).

I only heard 7 songs from Eesti Laul 2022 but I want to leave a ranking, a momentary "Top 3":

1) Ott Lepland xbow
2) Jaagup Tuisk xup
3) Boamadu xmetal

What did I forget to say about Ott? xthink Boys and girls, here we really risk seeing "pigs that fly"!xshockxrofl

High me five, Mrm! :gimmefive:xheya

I ask for a reaction, user BorisBubbles implies I'm troling.

Everybody knows that "Kuula" was my no2 in 2012 and that I love almost all Ott Lapland's songs..

This is really not a fair approach from the user to do this in the thread...

This I have to ask for a reaction..

also anyone have the urge whenever someone gives undue praise to diodato (especially in topics where he shouldn't be mentioned ever) to scream "FAI RUMORE IS BORING" in their faces?

"Repeat a lie a hundred, a thousand, a million times and it will become a truth"

Remember you didn't even like the Maneskin? And what happened then? Did all of Europe adore them and did they win? Admitting you don't know anything about music, does it hurt?

I don't think there's such a thing like "don't know anything about music"

People like what they like, that's called a democracy mdr

I loved Fai Rumore but well some people hate it and that's fine

"Knowing about music" means thinking beyond "It's boring", "It sucks" and other poor words. I only see people who, thanks to the concept of democracy, spit hatred or forcefully impose their point of view.

Let's take the words that I wrote, I listened to 7 songs and I said that I didn't like some but I tried to analyze them. I also recognized the value in what I don't like. Recognizing the value of what we don't like does not mean considering it better than what we love.

I accept that "Fai Rumore" may not be liked, I do not accept this constant flaming (here there is something that goes beyond personal tastes). Go see the comments of some eurofans and, regardless of what a specific nation proposes each year, that nation brings "bad songs".

I close the circle by reconnecting to democracy. It is not always something perfect. Often the possibility of being able to express themselves freely allows some limited individuals to say nonsense and feel important (today it has become a profession called "Influencer"). Then we complain that the world is falling apart... a world that oscillates between "trash" and "politically correct". To be able to express yourself, you need skills: knowing how to count to 10 before speaking, respect for the opinions of others and knowledge.
