I wish I could be more ecstatic about the song, but it's rather basic unfortunately, even though I love his voice. But I am not certain if he will make it far with this song ...

Or do I need more attempts to like the song ...?
I listened to "Aovalguses". I was too curious. What am I saying? Ott Opland can't win the Eesti Laul 2022

... he can win the ESC 2022!

Mauve, when you say that Ott is "basic" I totally agree with you but... isn't that how real music should be? We often observe songs with many nuances, very daring, technically complex and, at times, at "fireworks" that distract from the vocal test, from the sound and from the text. When a singer manages to be "basic" and at the same time to excite, he is a winning singer. Being "basic" is difficult. There is no room for mistakes!
Listening "Aovalguses" I felt a kind of pain inside me

... the song and the voice of the Estonian singer reminded me of something... then the light bulb went on! I was clear on what Ott was inspired by!

Unfortunately, however, I wanted to leave room for my doubts and, canceling the old possibility, I did other research but... nothing!

I got angry and said to myself "Trust the first idea!"

and I went to listen to a song to be sure. I understood right away! Ott Lepland and his song, with the necessary differences, are very reminiscent of the romantic works of Bryan Adams!!!
Personally, I find "Aovalguses" a very powerful song, the only song that could lead the ESC public to stop dancing, fall silent and be carried away by emotions (as would have happened with Diodato's "Fai Rumore"

).
I only heard 7 songs from Eesti Laul 2022 but I want to leave a ranking, a momentary "Top 3":
1) Ott Lepland

2) Jaagup Tuisk

3) Boamadu
What did I forget to say about Ott?

Boys and girls, here we really risk seeing "pigs that fly"!

High me five, Mrm!
