my hometown:
Derry (or Londonderry)
Located on the north coast of Ireland.
Population of about 100,000
It is called Derry by the Catholic community
It is called Londonderry by the Protestant community
It is called Doire in the Irish language.
It has large Eastern European, Chinese, Filipino and Nigerian communities.
It was founded by St Columba in the the 6th century AD.
It suffered terribly during the Troubles (the period of ethnic-religious conflict in Northern Ireland since the 1960s
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_troubles ) and there still are deep scars from the Troubles visible.
It is very historic. Landmarks include:
Free Derry Corner - an area of the city where the residents took control from the British Army in 1969, which was the event that started the Troubles
The City Walls - built in the 17th century and survived a 105-day siege and one of the few city walls in Europe still completely intact.
and the
World's Oldest Department Store
And it is the 2013 UK City of Culture. Can't wait until then

So that's Derry/Londonderry/Doire.
