After tonight, I'm gonna go with Sweden!
Except the Common Linnets, along with Conchita after semi 2, became the talk of the town, the big buzz. Loic has not. Russia and even Serbia have out shadowed him in terms of attention. All the press the next day was talking about Russia and Serbia saw and even bigger bounce in the odds.
2003 was 12 years ago....we live in a different age
I'm not saying Belgium is chanceless but I seriously doubt they will come close to winning unless all the favorites bomb. And even if its a 2011 scenario the Azerbaijan would be Australia, or Estonia, not Belgium
is shortening like crazy in the betting odds! Definitely a dark horse that could possibly take the crown.
But still think that or will win.
It's such a lovely song and Loic really deserves the success. I don't see the hype over the Russian song, it's not much special imo. But yeah it's Russia, so it will probably end up high. ;sI'm not surprised at all over shortening in the odds, it's charting better than on Itunes
In case of Russia, I think the fact that the EBU gave them such a good draw suggests that the EBU doesn't expect them to win. For political reasons, Russia is unlikely to get much support from countries that aren't among its usual voting buddies, so a good draw shouldn't be enough to make them win.
Russia winning would be a huge problem for the EBU, so if the EBU saw them as a potential winner, they would certainly have given them a worse draw. After all, if Russia won, this would mean all kinds of problems for next year's contest. It's not just a matter of disapproval of Russian politics but there are other things to consider like the effect of the sanctions on the organization of a contest in Russia, the anti-gay laws and the possible withdrawal of countries. These are problems the EBU definitely wants to avoid. So since they feel confident to give Russia a good draw, that can only mean that Russia won't win anyway. Maybe the lack of support from the West was already obvious during the semi final.
