It's gonna be :se: .... I'm completely okay with that now. It's a deserving song and performance. And the Swedes can put on a show. :D Anything but Russia I'm fine with.

I just want :ee: to get into the Top 5... Fifth place would make me really happy already. It's been so long since we've been in the top 5. Rändajad got 6th, Kuula got 6th. If we somehow magically get 2nd, that would be amazing too, since Estonia has never got 2nd place. But I think we won't reach the Top 3... And well yeah I guess it's the hardest to lose at second place. Because *so close*. :D

Most likely :se: and I will be like...

If the bookies have got the favourites right, I would prefer :it: or :ru: equally over greasy guy Måns.

My dream would be :sl: :lv: or :be:

I hope :ru: but i'm scared to say it would be :se: too. This year will be very contentious.

I'm starting to think it will be a one-horse race for :ru:

Nothing against the song or the country, but :it: is just, perfect :(

I've been really wanting Italy to win, but after seeing their rehearsal... I don't know if the staging is good enough :(. I was really impressed by Estonia's staging though, so I hope they win! Sweden's okay, I can see why people like it but it seems a bit soulless for me. I also really like Belgium, but I think the staging and vibe of the song is too deep to win.

When you say one-horse race you mean it will be close to a landside :?

Russia will be extremely dangerous in the 2nd half because it seems every time Polina performs the odds drop faster then a bomb. It will depend if the EBU want to be fair or not. They will definitely put them on before :it: and if :se: draws 2nd half them too. After that I guess it will come down to them keeping up with her or not xshrug

I honestly think Italy has a really strong performance and will defenetly fight Måns and Polina for the title (even though I was wrong about this in 2012 aswell, all of my friends in school said Italy is the winner) and France has had the same hype and failed.

Do I think EBU is going to allow a Russian victory? No. The theme is Building Bridges, and Eurovision is a lot about love, music and gay rights/be who you are because. Russia is the last place EBU is going to want to put three shows in, with the Crimea war, the political worries in Europe with Russia and the anti-HBTQ laws. Something like that happened when Azerbaijan hosted when some fans was told to hide their sexuality, and I've heard EBU was disappointed and worried about it. The victory that happened in 2014 was probably something that EBU loved, because it gave Eurovision so much publicity and the win was political in the way EBU likes it: gay rights. A russian win in Austria would be .. strange and people in the audience would probably riot.

I'm feeling like EBU is trying to pull an Australian win. Like '' oooh they won, now they just haave to take part every year! '' because it would be an anti-climax if they we're only allowed once and then locked out from the competition.

I think it would be nice for ESC if from now on Australia is allowed to vote in future years, and then maybe compete in special years (75th, 90th, etc...) as a compromise for those that don't want Eurovision to be about those outside Europe. This would also open the possibility for other countries outside Europe to vote, and then maybe compete with Australia for a place in the final :)

And I imagine the EBU is hoping for a Swedish, Italian, Estonian or Belgian win rather than Australian, as Australia coming in and winning a European contest isn't probably the image they want to portray ;)

But is the interest in Italy big enough?!

I don´t think they will lower that much more than they really have done, something tells me it was :be: and not :ru: that won the 1st semi

Last year showed a new trend: performing in first half seemed more attractive (Ukraine, Norway, Sweden, Austria, Armenia)

It doesn't matter if :be: won the semi. Countries have lost the semi and then won the final before. What matters is the buzz, hype and momentum and that's all on :ru: Only people really taking about :be: are the fans

But is the interest in Italy big enough?!

I think there are 3 main factors when it comes to who the EBU wants to host - the fan interest in their act, the size/prestige of the hosting venue, and the novelty/proven balance of the host country.

Italy is a big 5 country that has had a difficult relationship with EBU and hasn't won for a while. Especially with critisism that this year's contest was not big enough. But probably not enough fan interest currently.

Sweden is the safest hosts but then again they won in 2012. Nothing new/exciting.

Estonia is a bit more alternative but they won in 2001.

If EBU wants a 'newer' winner then I can see them pushing Belgium, who last won over 30 years ago.

Politically Russia is not the best choice, but then EBU knows Russia will put on a good (big!) show

Australia winning would probably be an embarrassment for EBU in what is supposed to be 'the' Eurovision song contest. On the other hand, it does give the EBU freedom to choose where to host the next one. If the 2nd place country is favourable, they can host there. If not, maybe a big 5 in order to have a 'bigger' show than recent years (for example, at the O2 in London). Or they can rehold it in Austria (this is probably the cheapest option).

Remember :nl: last year?

Except the Common Linnets, along with Conchita after semi 2, became the talk of the town, the big buzz. Loic has not. Russia and even Serbia have out shadowed him in terms of attention. All the press the next day was talking about Russia and Serbia saw and even bigger bounce in the odds.

So if the press don´t talk about a country, then it´s complete out of the game?

everyone was really expecting :be: to come 2nd in 2003 or?

2003 was 12 years ago....we live in a different age xshrug

I'm not saying Belgium is chanceless but I seriously doubt they will come close to winning unless all the favorites bomb. And even if its a 2011 scenario the Azerbaijan would be Australia, or Estonia, not Belgium
